How Much Do Content Creators Make?

May 6, 2024

How Much Do Content Creators Make

Content Creation Can be Lucrative But It Takes Time to Build An Audience

So, you’re considering becoming a content creator and wondering how much money you can make. Content creation is a big business, but many fail to make a financial impact.

Browse any social media platform, and you’ll find a mixed bag of well-produced content alongside the poorest quality content, and that’s the difference.

The first thing to consider is whether you want to create content in-house for a company or step into the freelance world and take your chances.

What is the Average Income For A Content Creator?

Well, you might as well ask how long a piece of string is because there are so many variables to consider. However, I will try to narrow it down to specific situations based on whether someone is employed or a freelance content creator with a large audience that engages with their content.

Average Income For An Employed Content Creator

The average income for an employed content creator in the United States is between $50k and $80k. That depends on the size of the company. Blue chip companies pay higher, but you might start with less if you work with a start-up.

Average Income For A Freelance Content Creator

Here’s where it gets tricky to provide accurate figures. If you’re starting out as a content creator, you’d make more money working for McDonalds. However, if you’re near to becoming an influencer, look out. It’s raining cash.

Many top-level content creaters easily become 6 and 7 figure earners.

Once many thousands of followers engage with your content, it’s easy to get brand deals, and that’s where most of the money is.

Bear in mind these figures change constantly; here’s a rough idea.

  • Instagram Content Creators make $10 to $1,000 per post
  • The TikTok Content Creator Fund Program can generate $0.20 to $0. 40 per 1,000 views
  • YouTube pays variable advertising revenues depending on the niche, from a few dollars up to $18+ per 1,000 views

Another factor to consider is whether you produce faceless content as that can take longer to build momentum.

Successful Content Creators Diversify For A Higher Income

The trick to making more income as a content creator is to diversify. For instance, you may create courses, sell coaching or mentoring, or sell affiliate products and services you promote on your channel.

Indeed, many content creators base the foundation of their earning potential on add-ons to platform monetisation.

How to Make Money as a Content Creator

Get started. That’s more than most people do. Once you start, keep going because that’s where many fail. Your posts get met by crickets for a long time, and it feels like you’re talking to yourself.

Consistency is 100% the key to success. It may take weeks or months to build a following and even longer to get engagement, but it will come.

Be Authentic

Don’t copy others. Be yourself and let your personality shine through. Provide value and share genuine content.

Engage With Your Audience

Always respond to comments. Encourage conversation and help build your community of followers.

Network With Other Content Creators

Connect with others and support each other. You could do guest podcasts or duets and things like that.

Build An Email List

Suppose you have 100k followers on one channel, and the platform closes your account. Bam! Just like that, you’ve lost your audience. Building an email list ensures you can still access your audience and offer them subscriber discounts on products, services and courses.

Note: You can build a subscriber list up to 2k for free

Sell Merchandise

When you have an engaged audience, they are keen to buy merchandise from you. Run special offers, discounts and deals specific to your audience.

Offer A Mentoring or Coaching Service

Almost without intention, once you have some success online, people start asking about mentoring and coaching. They want to be where you are and believe you can help them.

Consider Starting A Membership Site

Instead of one-to-one mentoring or coaching, a membership site can be a productive alternative. There are dozens of paid options online, such as Skool, Kajabi, Patreon and Mighty Networks. They all have monthly or annual fees, but when making money as a content creator, these fees are tax deductible.

Sign Brand Deals

Brand deals will open up as your popularity grows. Companies will pay you for a mention, and these can be lucrative. Top influencers suggest aligning brands with your own and ensuring they are ethical products. Otherwise, your audience could lose trust in your reviews.

Conclusion

My journey into content creation is always work in progress. I joined a DFU Business in June 2024 and am really enjoying that journey.

I’d suggest a long look at yourself before starting because the early (what feels like) rejection can be hard to stomach. Personally, I have no desire to become an influencer.

I want to create watchable content and have fun doing it. It’s taken me a few months to accept this is a long game. It’s not something to do for a few weeks or months and then forget about.

Enjoy. Have fun, and monitor your progress.

8 Steps to Building A Faceless Brand

May 4, 2024

8 Steps to Building A Faceless Brand

Building A Faceless Brand Can Be Fun. Indeed, Make That The Goal

I started building a faceless brand for an unusual reason. I didn’t mind being on camera. I’d often film on my phone when out walking with my dogs. I could kid myself I was working, hahaha.

Anyhow, I woke up one morning with a face like an angry beetroot, some sort of weird rash. I took antihistamines for a week but it didn’t improve.

It took months for that rash to calm down, despite stronger meds from the doctor. Meantime, I started creating faceless content and, you know what. I enjoyed it. There is far less editing and it’s quicker to throw some images or video shots together. Plus, I had more fun as I didn’t have to keep air filtering my old face!

There are disadvantages to faceless marketing, of course. For instance, psychological studies show that we are more responsive to advertising if it features a person or group of people. Still, don’t let that put you off building a faceless brand.

Step 1: Identify Your Audience

You’re probably yawning because you’d prefer watching paint dry. However, as tedious as it is, identifying your audience is essential for building a faceless brand.

Take time to work out the demographics and psychographics of your audience. You might want to create a buyer persona to target your marketing to that person. Somehow, that energy is conveyed subconsciously to people.

  1. How old?
  2. Location
  3. Tone of voice
  4. Interests & hobbies
  5. What is important to them?
  6. What do they do for work?
  7. What products do they use?
  8. What is the average income?
  9. What is not important to them?
  10. What do they want from life & work?
  11. What do they watch on TV or YouTube?
  12. What’s their inside leg measurement and do they like blueberry pie?

Research where your audience hangs out. There’s no point posting content on TikTok if your target audience prefers Instagram. For the latter, you might find the Instagram Faceless Strategy Guide helpful. YouTube is an excellent platform for finding most audiences and I’ve put together top tips for YouTube growth based on me stalking  following several YouTube gurus.

Step 2: Study The Competition

Study the successful faceless brand competitors in your niche, and work through the following questions: –

  1. What are their strengths?
  2. What are their weaknesses?
  3. What makes this brand unique?
  4. What tone of voice do they have?
  5. How do they structure their website?
  6. What social media platforms do they use?
  7. Which platforms do they get the most engagement?
  8. Do they use SEO? (Do a Google search for relevant keywords)
  9. Do they have a subscriber list? If yes, subscribe to assess their email campaign

By completing step 2, you should have an excellent overview of at least two of your top competitors. After that, model their strategies (NOT copy-find a unique spin of your own)

Step 3: Define Your Brand’s Position And Purpose

I’d recommend reading Simon Sinek’s book Start With Why. He says, and I agree that people don’t care what you do. They care why you do it—your underlying “why” will attract your tribe without you having to repeat the message.

You can find Simon’s content on YouTube if you search for his name.

Write a mission statement and elevator speech. Dig deep to understand why you’re doing what you do. If you’re doing it only for the money, your audience will sense that.

There must be a deeper purpose. Also, having a concrete “why” helps keep you motivated when times get tricky.

Step 4: Develop A Brand Personality And Voice

If you’re unsure of your brand personality and voice, I recommend reading Awakening the The Hero Within by Carol S Pearson. It’s about the six archetypes based on Jungian psychology (don’t worry. It’s an easy read).

The book will help you find a relatable archetype you can use throughout your brand creation. It will help you identify your natural strengths and understand your weaknesses.

A relatable brand personality and voice will be the backbone of your positioning and marketing.

Step 5: Create Your Brand Story

If you want to understand the power of storytelling, get the book Building A StoryBrand by Donald Miller, a leading expert on storytelling for business.

Your story must be relatable to your audience and follow a beginning, middle, and end structure.

You are the protagonist in the story, of course, but Donald’s Book teaches you to start with your customer as the central character, with you as the guide who leads them through their process and call to action.

Start using storytelling in your blog and marketing material.

Step 6: Pick A Brand Name

Your brand name must be easy to undertstand. Make it easy to pronounce and spell. Once you decide on a few names, research the internet to check for similar brand names. Remember, be unique.

Naming your brand is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Most top brand names are either abbreviations or one to two words. They are usually memorable and easy to say and spell.

Step 7: Choose A Slogan

Slogans should be short and catchy. Think of Nike’s slogan Just Do It. It doesn’t get simpler than that. It can capture an attitude or represent “what it does on the tin”, such as “Lunard Couriers Get it Done Faster.”

Your slogan could highlight a benefit, or it could rhyme. Don’t worry. You can change your slogan if you wish. Test out a few to see which ones your audience responds to.

Step 8: Design Your Brand Colours, Style & Logo

Did you notice the brand colours and logo are at step 8? The mistake most new businesses make is to start with this step, and that leads to problems if you don’t define positioning, brand personality, and voice.

Study the competition to see what colours they have for their brands. Are they loud and bright or subtle tones? That could be important because it matters to the relevant audience.

You don’t need to spend a fortune hiring a graphic designer to create your logo. There are so many options online for logo creation. Even Canva does a pretty good job.

Create a style guide, which includes font style and size for text and headings. Decide what type of images you want to use. Depending on your chosen brand colours, the images should complement the brand.

Conclusion

Test your brand and see how your audience responds. If it fails to land, don’t be afraid to tweak your branding or even completely rebrand. The main thing is that you feel passionate about your brand personality and voice because, ultimately, your business represents who you are.

If necessary, shift the colours, change the logo or the slogan, and keep assessing if you have chosen the right archetype for the business.

These 8 steps to building a faceless brand are no different to any other branding. Perhaps you want to do 50/50 faceless marketing. If that’s the case, use the same process because it works.

Have fun. Building a faceless brand needn’t be tedious or difficult. If you plan to be in business for a long time, start as you mean to go on and make it fun.

Faceless digital marketing should be fun, and there’s no reason you cannot build a unique brand.

3 Things I Wish I’d Known Sooner About Digital Marketing

April 28, 2024

things about digital marketing

Everybody touts that affiliate marketing is the best way to secure a passive income. However, there are a few details that nobody tells you, and it means the difference between people pushing through the challenges of digital and affiliate marketing or giving up altogether.

Here’s the truth:

  1. Passive income from digital marketing (and affiliate marketing) takes a lot of work
  2. There are multiple moving parts to master before money rains down from the sky
  3. It can take considerable time to start earning passive income

I believe integrity must rule when selling information to our audience. We’re dealing with human beings who may be vulnerable, anxious and struggling to pay the bills. They may have zero knowledge about sales and social media marketing, and they trustingly believe the advice of someone making a lot of money online.

Yes, digital and affiliate marketing may be the easiest way to make money online. Still, many people get stuck in the process because the gurus make it challenging to understand that it can be simple.

Indeed, it SHOULD be simple, but that doesn’t mean it is easy.

I come from a direct sales background. Back then, my entire focus was on building relationships with my clients based on trust and integrity, and nothing has changed for me on my digital marketing journey.

I want to do my best for people, not con them into buying expensive courses I haven’t used, purchased, or succeeded with. Yet so many have no problems with that.

Anyhoo, that’s my digital marketing rant over. Now, we’ll focus on how to get started and set yourself up for success so you can start making passive income later down the road.

Step 1

Choose a reputable marketing platform. I use Systeme because you can get started for free. I pay $27 a month and have email campaigns and sales pages set up on there for my digital marketing business. I’m also taking their certified sales funnel building course.

Customer service is excellent, and you can use the marketing tools without the pressure of a monthly subscription. I have just upgraded because I’m building more sales pages and adding more products and custom domains. I love Systeme, its ethos and its quality tools.

Step 2

Decide if you want to:

  1. Sell other people’s digital products
  2. Create your own digital products
  3. Buy PLR products you can edit and make your own
  4. Buy MRR products to resell for 100%
  5. Buy a DFU Business

I am doing a mix of options. I ONLY promote programs I use and am happy with, such as Systeme. In addition, it’s best to promote products offering at least 25% commissions.

Step 3

Create a free lead magnet to give away to subscribers. Honestly, don’t offer some crappy PLR that you got for free. Buy a template you can edit so you can add value. Be happy to give away free stuff that offers a transformation for subscribers. Start as you mean to go and build trust with your audience.

Step 4

Create a landing page for your first product. A simple squeeze page and thank you page is acceptable. Systeme has multiple templates to make setting up your first page for free quick and easy.

Step 5

Create an email campaign relative to the free product. For instance, If your freebie is about faceless social media marketing, your email campaign should be relative to providing that information.

Don’t be in a rush to promote products. Warm your subscribers first by leading with value.

Step 6

Choose two or three social media channels to focus on. Pinterest is a fantastic search engine, and TikTok can be a great platform once you build momentum.

YouTube may be slower, but build a long-term content strategy around it because there are endless opportunities for digital and affiliate marketing add-on bonuses, like coaching, brand deals and more. You can build a faceless brand on YouTube and succeed.

Now, here’s the thing. Creating or editing PLR products is time-consuming, but I recommend ALWAYS making them your own, adding your own spin and increasing their value.

Your first sales page might take you several hours. You might fluff up when adding a custom domain or tags or automating the process. That’s absolutely normal. I put off doing my first sales page for over six months. When I finally did it. I felt ashamed and embarrassed because it was easier than I expected.

Conclusion

Setting up to create automated passive income from digital and affiliate marketing takes time and always takes you longer than you think. I’ve been working on my back-end set-up and product creation for over a month and am still not ready to go. I might be slower because I won’t sell mediocre products to my customers.

Everything becomes easier once you have your automated system in place. You can add more products in your own time. Additionally, you can promote your products on other marketplaces like Etsy, Gumroad and Creative Fabrica.

The opportunities are endless.

So, my apologies for my early rant. I hope you see where I’m coming from. Integrity, honesty and authenticity are the most critical aspects of building any relationship, whether a partnership or selling digital products online. I hope you feel the same way.

How to Choose A Life Design

April 26, 2024

choose a life design

Choose a life design and your life stops being something that happens to you. Though goodness knows it can seem like our lives are out of control sometimes, it’s more a case of becoming aware of how much we can influence our experiences.

If you’re anything like me, I am not short of ideas. Sometimes, my head buzzes with flashes of brilliance. However, implementing those ideas is a different story. I am neurodivergent, so creating structure can be problematic for me.

I’m learning to prioritise my ideas based on what will “move the needle.” In other words, I need to stop chasing shiny objects that are a waste of time and instead focus on doing the tasks that enable me to make progress, particularly in my goal to become financially free.

These four steps are how I better manage my mind to achieve the things I need and want to do to better design my life. You can choose a life design that aligns perfectly with your deepest desires.

1.   Identify Your Options

Jot down all the potential options you have. You might start by creating a mind map where you write all the ideas on paper in no particular order. After that, pull out the ones that are genuine opportunities and create a priority list.

This exercise stops you from reacting to external influences and steers you towards becoming proactive. It enables you to choose how you spend your time.

There is no shortage of opportunities, but we can get trapped in “decision overwhelm” and end up doing nothing or chasing the wrong thing.

2.   Narrow Down Your Options

If the brain feels overwhelmed, it naturally distracts you from those uncomfortable feelings. You find yourself switching on Netflix, eating a bucket of chocolate or doing something you find easy and enjoyable.

What I have learned is that I avoid doing the tough things. The problem with that is those tricky tasks often take me closer to my goal. For instance, I procrastinated on a task for several months because I knew there were technical aspects to overcome. I was experiencing brain fog and kept putting it off for fear of making a mistake.

What helped me overcome this challenge was to break down the entire task into bite-sized chunks. I accepted it was OK to do one small thing daily because it eventually got me to complete the task. Yay!

We are all different. Writing a list of pros and cons might work for you, or brainstorming with a friend might help.

3.   Making A Choice

The  most powerful question to determine how to choose from multiple options is to ask, “What do I want?”

Sit quietly, close your eyes and ask this question until you are 100% clear on your objective, dream or goal. Listen to your heart or your gut, but be aware that your brain can talk you out of taking “big” steps because it wants to keep you safe. So what you think is a gut feeling is your brain being a scaredy cat.

After determining what you want, the next question is, “Why do I want it?” This aspect is super important because what we think we want is often not our dream. It can be social conditioning, peer pressure, FOMO or something else.

For example, my dream of financial freedom is underpinned by a deep desire to be free. I’ve felt like that forever. I want to have time to do hobbies, buy a house (free me from rent) and enjoy meandering through my days without having to report to anyone else. I also want to spend less time on my laptop.

However, underpinning all of our dreams is a desire to be happy. We all want to be happy. We believe achieving “something” we prioritise will give us that.

4.   Let Go and Move On

After you have made a decision, let it go. Don’t worry whether you have done the right thing. Stand by your choice. If it falls apart, it wasn’t meant for you, and you know what not to do next time. You are unique. What works for one person isn’t right for another.

There are always other opportunities. We are in the flow of abundance. Let go of regret. Shrug your shoulders and move on. Listen to your intuition, your soul and your feelings. Sometimes, when something I wanted doesn’t work out, I feel relieved. Then, something much better comes along. Learn to trust yourself and detach from outcomes.

The more you can let go and not attach meaning to attaining what you think you want, the happier you will be. You will learn to become adaptable, flexing into life like a wise guru.

Creating a life design isn’t complicated. It’s more about figuring out what matters to you and how you want to live. Sadly, many people go their entire lives swept along by external influences and only realise what happened when it’s too late to shape their lives the way they (actually) want it to be.

I hope this article has helped you choose a life design.

The Mirror Principle – How to Shift Your Reality

April 25, 2024

the mirror principle

Do you remember the fantastic film “Cool Runnings?” In the movie, one character, Yul Brenner, says to another, “Junior Bevell. Look in the mirror, and tell me what you see.”

Herein is the problem.

Your entire life is a mirror for every thought, belief and action taken. The problem is that we believe in our physical reality.

No money in the bank? Well, that’s real, Jan. Stop telling me it isn’t.

Cold, hard facts drive your reality, and those facts get you more of what you don’t want.

Moreover, from the moment you were born, the world told you how to be and think. Our brain is like a sponge during the first seven years of childhood. We absorb everything as a truth. Later, we may begin questioning facts but still trust the physical world to tell us how it is.

Maybe, as a teenager, you might rebel. Still, you’ll always comply only with what you can see. Nobody taught you to design your life. You just went along with everything like everyone else does…

Unless you’re a lovely rebel…

Reality Transurfing

In Vadim Zeland’s epic 780-page book Reality Transurfing, the author details the mirror principle. He says we must turn our conditioning on its head and stop believing in physical reality, what we can see.

Instead, look at the mirror image of your life. Look at what you created and start visualising a new image.

Live it. Breathe it. Imagine it.

Ignore it when physical reality smacks you around the face and says, “Wake up, you donut. The Law of Attraction doesn’t work. Grow up. Live in the real world!”

If we are all vibration and energy and connected to the source (we are), then it’s more a matter of reconnecting to the flow of abundance.

  1. Focus on 2-3 things you want to manifest (always add “or something better”)
  2. Remind yourself why you want these things. How will it contribute to your life? How will you feel when you have manifested them? Who else will it affect?
  3. Imagine the daily lived experience of having those things.
  4. Imagine standing in front of a mirror with your newly created reality and seeing the physical things YOU manifested.
  5. Notice when you move from doubting to feeling and then knowing.

Imagine driving the car, sitting in the new house, holding hands with a doting partner or feeling happy when you look at your healthy bank balance. Embrace your manifestation fully, knowing it is in the flow of abundance, and your job is to assume it is yours, and all you need to do is choose what you want.

When you reach stage five, even if you cannot see your manifestation in your reality, TRUST that you have manifested it – or something better – and it IS on the way. Hold the “knowing” until it arrives.

In conclusion, be aware when you doubt or wonder how your manifestation can materialise. That’s not your job. If you asked for a million-dollar house and have only $1000 in the bank, it’s the universe’s job to sort the deets.

Is The Digital World Messing Our Connection To A Deeper Reality?

April 24, 2024

Is The Digital World Messing With Our Connection To A Deeper Reality?

People tell us to live in the real world, but nonody truly knows what that is

Is the digital world messing our connection to a deeper reality? Yes, I genuinely believe it is.

Older generations connected to the earth by doing physical work. Time spent out in nature, even when it’s hard graft, reaches something deep within us that is impossible to replicate with a laptop.

I’ve been feeling out of sorts for a while, and after a conversation with a friend, I suddenly realised how long my life has revolved around my laptop. As a writer of three years, I cannot do my work without access to technology.

My friend said her ideal world would be days spent rewilding and doing physical work out in the fields. Her insight evoked a guttural reaction. I had to down tools, put the dogs’ collars on, and go for a long walk.

We both used to have horses and spent a lot of time outside. I lost my 36-year-old, Jack, in 2017 after 29 years together, but I decided that was it. Horses are hard work and expensive, but I missed that time when my head was clear of everything except being with my horse.

I’ve long been baffled at our acceptance of working a 40-hour week. Why do we accept this slavery other than to “earn” a living? We weren’t born to grind ourselves into a pulp with only a few measly days to actually “enjoy” time off.

Last year, I found myself in a toxic work environment. Even though I’m a freelance writer, the a-hole manager insisted on my reporting what I planned to do each day and how long it would take. At the close of the day, I then had to report what I’d done and how long it took.

WTAF!!!!!!!

What Happened Next?

Honestly, this micromanagement sucked the life out of me. My clients had always trusted my work, and my writing was a tangible result. I published two articles a week, so there was no need to question what I did or didn’t do. My results were tangible, but that didn’t matter to this *ickhead.

I worked 2.5 days a week. It’s hard to imagine putting up with this treatment for 40 hours a week. But people do. They hate their jobs and long for Friday afternoon.

After leaving, it took me six months to recover from the burnout. Being in a hypervigilant state for four months, I was exhausted. I was also client-shy and no longer wanted to pitch my work. I couldn’t face EVER being in that situation again. Thankfully, I have a few clients who leave me alone to do my job, never question what I do and respect my work. However, this horrible experience led me to digital marketing.

I walked the dogs for an hour this afternoon, pondering what my friend said. How about if we’re all stressed, anxious and exhausted because the reality that we accept as the norm is slowly destroying us? How can we ever return to a physical reality that makes us feel wholesome and alive?

Will Robots Pay Us Not To Work?

The truth is, I don’t think we can go back.

The exponential growth of artificial intelligence (AI) is unlikely to slow down, and “they” may eventually replace us in the workplace, or at least partly. What would our lives be like then? The experts suggest that AI would create trillions of dollars so humans would get a living wage and not have to work.

I hear you. Jan, that’s a freaking dream. Stop knocking it!

It’s not, though. Humans thrive when they have a purpose but turn inwards when there seems little point in life. I’ve seen this lack of structure cause havoc with teenagers from wealthy families. They don’t have a purpose. Mummy and Daddy pay for everything. The kids don’t have to struggle.

What’s the problem with that?

The struggle is what makes us grow. Overcoming obstacles is what makes us feel fulfilled and alive.

We strive to achieve. We enjoy competition and the connection it brings with others.

Back To Reality

The “thing” you think is “reality” is an artificial construction built with flimsy cardboard. This reality suits the government. They need the people to behave, be compliant and NOT rebel.

Society teaches us from an early age to sit at a desk and do as we’re told. That never sat well with me. I always felt like a cuckoo in the nest and questioned everything. In 1995, I left the corporate world and became self-employed. I have never worked more than 25 hours a week since.

Underneath the construction are sub-layers that keep society propped up. Retirement age keeps going up. In the UK, they are aiming for 71! WTF? As many people die in their late sixties, the government saves a fortune from not having to pay the deceased. They’ll waste it, of course.

When they raised women’s retirement age from sixty to sixty-six, the UK government made £200 billion. Where the **ck did that money go?

Sorry. I went off on a tangent, but it’s all relevant.

Here’s How To Reconnect

My message to you is, “Don’t be an ostrich“. You can pretend the world is perfectly OK as it is and reality serves us, but it does not. It slowly sucks the life out of you until your retire and die, wondering where the **ck your life went.

Society discourages entrepreneurs, even though they bring wealth into a country. We should all be entrepreneurs. There is no reason we cannot do it because we all have the capability. Still, we just don’t believe we have what it takes.

Why is that?

Come on, keep up.

Sit behind a desk when you’re five and stay there until you’re almost an adult. Learn to add up and pass exams and accrue ridiculous student debt. Learn **ck all about managing finances and leveraging compound interest. And let’s not talk about passive income because it doesn’t exist, right? Well, it does, so <<shrug>>

Never believe that you cannot change your life. You don’t need to get stuck in this dark hole of existence. Decide that you want something more, something better. Even if you don’t know what that is, hold the thought and watch for opportunities.

That’s what I did. That’s what I am doing. I found a direction. I’ve been scared to follow it because it is so much bigger than what I’m used to. However, thanks to my friend’s insight, I recognised my limiting thoughts and can now push through to the next stage.

What Have Lawnmowers Got To Do With the Law of Attraction?

April 23, 2024

lawnmowers and manifestation

My Weird thoughts in the night came up with this Law of Attraction analogy

Some law of attraction gurus tell us that all we have to do to manifest what we want is imagine it, and it will be so. The trouble with that is when our wishes fail to materialise, we feel like a failure. We think we must be feeble manifesters because other people can do it, right?

Honestly, this was an issue for me for many years. I’d had a few incredible events where the universe unfolded my desires without much effort. However, the naughty universe, I think, lured me into a false sense of security.

I stopped believing. After my fiancé died in a cycling accident in 2020, I struggled to retain my faith in manifesting my wishes. Losing him wasn’t in my dreams. Life got a bit tough after that.

Gradually, I began reading Law of Attraction books and watching videos again. I genuinely wanted to reconnect with the source. 2023 was a challenging year that tested my faith in myself, people and the universe. I came out of it a bit dented but stronger and resolved to return to my spiritual roots.

Anyhoo, what do lawnmowers have to do with the law of attraction?

I sat in bed a few nights ago and contemplated how the law of attraction works. I figured the universe works alongside us, like a colleague working to complete a project.

Here’s the weird thought that popped into my head: –

Take a petrol-driven lawnmower with a pulley thing used to get it started. We hold the handle down, pull the pulley, and start the mower.

OK? Still with me?

We push the mower along, cutting the grass, and the lawnmower does its job. If we let go of the handle, the mower stops. So, here’s my analogy: –

  1. We instigate the manifestation by taking action (starting the mower)
  2. The universe cooperates because we have given it a directive
  3. We must hold the handle (thought/intention/belief) for the mower (the universe) to keep working
  4. If we let go of the handle, the universe assumes we no longer want it to work with us

I know it’s a simplistic notion, but I’ve found that I get more traction and better results if I take action. If I take my eye off the ball and start doubting the law of attraction, it agrees with my thoughts and disappears to help someone else.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on my concept.
