Making Money is A Game

April 14, 2024

making money is a game

Making Money is a Game. Your Life Changes When You Understand The Game of Money

In our version of reality, most of us subconsciously believe that we must work hard to make a lot of money. We might anchor onto making a high income by gaining unique skills, such as becoming a cardiovascular consultant or a top-notch lawyer.

But what about if we’re all getting it wrong? How about if making money is really a simple game that few of us know how to play?

What if you consider that taking the most well-trodden path is NOT the safest and may not lead to the pot of gold? The reason is that the “pot of gold” we long for has nothing to do with money and does not make us happy.

Underneath the desire for money is a longing for happiness, security or love, but we forget that in the chase for hard cash.

The road to riches is strewn with anxiety and comes at an expensive cost. Time, health, relationships, and family are often the losers in the game. Society determines the game’s rules; the deeper you get into the game, the harder it is to exit.

Reality Transurfing

In Reality Transurfing by Vadim Zeland, there’s something called the Mirror Principle. It’s easy to understand that we expect to see our image in a mirror. In reality, the reflection we see is not quite the same as others see, as we notice when we see a photograph of ourselves – “How do I look so old!!! Must be a bad photo.”

You created your world; your reality mirrors your thoughts, actions and behaviours. We cannot rely on the mirror image of our reality as a truth because, quite frankly, it is an illusion, though you may fight me to the death to prove otherwise.

The Reality Transurfing book is heavy-going. At 759 pages, it would break your toes if it fell on your foot. It’s not an easy read, though I plan to have another go. Meantime, I’m rereading Transurfing in 78 Days by the same author. It’s a little book with big messages, but you don’t learn the techniques like the BIG book.

Anyhoo, I digress.

Stop Playing the Money Game

I’ve played the societal money game my entire life, and it’s got me nowhere. I’ve never achieved a six-figure income and recently realised I’ve been playing the wrong game.

2023 may become the year I changed the game.

In January, a new CMO made my life hell and four months later, I left the company exhausted, feeling inadequate and with badly smashed confidence. Being in a hypervigilant state for an extended period wreaks havoc on your mental and physical health.

Then, a few months later, I got “let go” by another company despite consistent performance with most of my content ranking in Google page one results and rave reviews from my editor. HQ wanted compliant minions that didn’t work for other clients, didn’t have side hustles, and dedicated their time 100% for a few measly peanuts at the end of the month.

F*** that!

As a widow living in a rental, I had no choice but to go onto benefits. I found a little regular work, but it was writing a few features about dog behaviour, which I love. Meantime, I had plenty of time to think about what I wanted.

During the last few months, I’ve discovered how bloody awesome it is to be out of the corporate game. Despite being freelance, I was still exchanging time for money, and that, my friends, is the biggest scam we all get lured into. I started a done-for-you business that taught me digital marketing and it’s the best decision I ever made.

Believe – Take Action – Result

I’ve been writing morning and evening affirmations for several months, and stuff began happening that showed me alternatives for making money that didn’t involve handing your life over to someone else.

Though I am on the lower rung of my transition into a new money game, what is clear is that I have released the old game. It no longer works for me; I feel so far removed now.

I genuinely believe that making money is a game, and it comes with guidelines, some of which I outline below:

  • Do what you love
  • Be authentically you
  • Make your own rules
  • Access creativity daily
  • Learn something new every day
  • Don’t live by the rules of others
  • Believe in your ability to create change
  • Identify your money mindset limitations
  • Do not trust the mirror of external reality
  • Believe 100% that making money is a game
  • You can change your external reality by changing your internal reality
  • Refuse to participate in the “old” game, or at least recognise you are still in it and take the necessary steps to leave it.

One of the biggest cons of the societal money game is that money will make you happy. It does not. It might make you happy for a fleeting moment, but don’t expect long-term happiness.

Conclusion

In the new game of making money, the secret is to enjoy the process. Yes, you have a goal, but make it a process goal. For instance, one of my process goals is to do something creative daily. It’s non-negotiable because it makes me feel alive and connected to my soul. That might be writing an article, working on a book, creating a video, or images for social media content.

Focus on enjoying the journey. Outcome goals become meaningless when you reach them. You have nowhere to go and may have forgotten to plan a strategy for success. Most people don’t know how to manage success. They feel a churning burn of disappointment when they reach the perceived summit.

Consider thinking about your goal as a road trip. Pack up the camper van, take your essentials and enjoy each day as you visit new places, meet new people and learn new things.

5 Ways To Start Digital Marketing Without A Website?

April 14, 2024

build a digital marketing business without a website

Start Digital Marketing Without a Website. Yippee!

Can you start digital marketing without a website? After all, building a website is a major hassle. Maintaining a website is a pain in the butt, but we’ve all become primed to believe we need a website to “do business.”

Still, is this true? Can we genuinely build a thriving digital marketing business without a website?

When I started digital marketing this year, my first thought was to buy a domain name and start a website for my new business.

My heart sank. I did NOT want a website.

Thankfully, the training I received convinced me a website isn’t necessary. After purchase, I got my link and, within 5 days, I had gorgeous Shopify store with over 200 products.

All I had to do was generate traffic; the course taught me that too.

This post gives you 5 top tips for generating traffic to your offers, most of which are free. Yay!

#1: Social Media Marketing

I heard you groan. Stop it!

Firstly, pick only three social media channels, for instance:

  1. TikTok
  2. Instagram (reach is appalling in 2024)
  3. Pinterest – The Godzilla of Traffic

Use social media with the proviso that it’s a back up. There’s a real danger in relying on social media for all of your traffic. Instead, start a blog and build up your traffic with SEO content.

Pinterest is an incredible traffic source. Here is how to start a Pinterest account.

  1. Claim your website
  2. Upgrade to a business account
  3. Have only six boards relevant to your business
  4. Delete or make irrelevant boards private
  5. Use vertical pins
  6. Create highly visual pins on Canva
  7. Use relevant tags
  8. Use keywords in descriptions to read as sentences.
  9. Add keywords to the board and pin descriptions
  10. Post at least 1 pin daily
  11. Create value – give people a genuine reason to click on your pin
  12. Use relevant keywords in your profile
  13. Create a banner (850 x450px)
  14. Create a logo – I use a portrait picture

If you’re starting a new Pinterest account, you don’t need followers to make a successful business. Learn how to create pins that get attention.

Before you start, read my post about how to prevent Pinterest account suspended.

I link pins to my blog. My traffic to Wolfheart site is increasing and driving traffic to my offers. Much of my content is ranking in snippets and page one.

TikTok Without Dancing

TikTok can be an incredible traffic source. However, most accounts get stuck, rarely getting above 300 views per video, no matter how many times they post daily.

There are four tiers to the TikTok algorithm:

  1. 50 – 5k
  2. 5k – 10k
  3. 25k – 100k
  4. 1M – 1B

I did a Reels & TikTok Course, which helped me learn how to put a video together that gets noticed. The course teaches you how to get your content to go viral.

Here are a few tips:

  1. Choose a specific niche
  2. Have a great hook – evoke curiosity in the first 3-5 seconds
  3. Complete the promise of the hook by storytelling
  4. Don’t give everything away in the first few shots
  5. Use 3-5 relevant tags for every video so TikTok understands your channel intent
  6. Use secondary hooks if possible
  7. Edit the fluff. Remove anything that could cause viewers to click off your video
  8. Give your audience a “payoff”

Forget about vanity metrics like likes and follows. The most critical factor in TikTok success is watch time. Your entire content strategy must be to keep eyes on your videos.

TikTok rolls out new content to a small test audience. If that fails to get traction, your video will remain at level one, and subsequent videos will unlikely break through that wall.

Getting stuck at 200 views is frustrating, and too many people believe submitting more content will resolve the situation.

It won’t.

Instagram

Instagram audiences like to be wooed. They’re a fickle lot. The algorith is a bit pants, but it’s worth pursuing.

You can edit your TikTok content and share and create relevant posts on Instagram.

I’m not an expert on Instagram, but I understand your content can go viral with the same guidelines as Pinterest and TikTok.

You can also curate your video content on YouTube and start building followers there.

Recently, I stopped posting reels. I bought the Threads Unleashed training and now focus on building a following on IG Threads. It takes much less effort and I’m getting results.

#2: Email Marketing

Building an email list will be the most potent aspect of creating a 6-figure income from digital or affiliate marketing.

To get started, I’d advise joining a marketing platform. It’s free for up to 2,000 subscribers.

I had a free Systeme account for six months, and upgraded after doing the certified funnel builder training.

It’s a brilliant platform with 140k people in the active Facebook group. Many people share their sales funnel templates for free, which are easy to edit within your dashboard.

The platform also has an affiliate marketplace where you can find fantastic offers to promote.

#3: Lead Magnets

Ask yourself how many emails you have subscribed to that offered something for free. If you’re anything like me, I rarely register unless there’s something I want for free.

While creating a lead magnet yourself is good, it isn’t necessary.

You can purchase a low-cost PLR book or course, edit it and use it as your lead magnet.

Create an email campaign for your subscribers. Focus on providing value rather than the hard sell. You must build trust and loyalty with your audience before you ask them to get out their credit cards.

Personalise your email campaign to talk to one person. Use the words “you” and “your” so people feel connected. Use a storytelling format for each email, and avoid constantly telling your audience how much money you’re making.

Give your subscribers the best tips to help them solve problems, make money, grow their business, or whatever is appropriate for your business.

Don’t try and hide the fact that you’re selling. Be open when you’re promoting a product or course. Keep the content light-hearted and focus on the transformation.

What will people experience if they buy the course or product?

For instance, if people buy the TikTok course, they will learn how to go viral on TikTok, which is transferable to other platforms. After that, with hundreds of thousands of views, people will make money, find financial and lifestyle freedom, and have a bucket load of fun.

In time, consistently getting millions of views can lead to brand deals, and most companies pay at least $1,000 for one video promoting their business.

Share offers that you have used and are 100% happy to share. Take your focus off the money and ONLY promote courses and products that provide transformational results.

#4: Sales Pages & Funnels

Once you have a lead magnet to offer, the next step is to create a landing page and a simple funnel. I use Systeme, which enables you to build three sales funnels, 2,000 subscribers, a blog, one course, a coupon code, a community, and much more.

Hey, you can do the Systeme certified sales funnel bulder course for FREE!

The free version is incredible in helping you become familiar with marketing tools before you go all in on your marketing campaign.

One major bonus of using Systeme is that once you are happy with the platform, you can share it with others and make 60% recurring commissions.

Some people in the Facebook group are making $20k+ monthly simply from promoting Systeme!

I completed the funnel bulder course in July 2024 and have added funnel building to my services. I created my first sales funnel for Threads Unleashed, which you can get access to. The day rate for sales funnel builders is around £350!

#5: Free Advertising

Free ad sites aren’t great, but you can quickly produce an advert and expand your reach.

  1. Create a title with a good hook
  2. Keep copy concise
  3. Focus on the transformation
  4. Discuss the problems your audience has
  5. Show you have the solutions

Here is a link for 75+ different free advertising sites. I haven’t found them particularly useful to be honest.

It’s better to build a website and drive traffic that way.

Conclusion

The most common question in Facebook groups is how to generate organic traffic. These top five ways to start a digital marketing business without a website are all you need to generate traffic.

Stay consistent. At times, it may feel like you’re talking to yourself. However, the more valuable content you curate, the more chance you have of driving traffic to your offers.

I’d advise you to start with the free marketing platform. Create a simple landing page and email campaign, and then off you go to produce and share your content.

Have fun!

Why Is It Easier To Manifest What You Don’t Want?

April 14, 2024

manifestation truism

Learn How the Brain Works to Give You What You Focus On

Sadly, our brains take the path of least resistance. Neural pathways become hard-wired, which means that making changes is challenging. Implementing change can sometimes feel impossible, even when your life is utter pants.

The brain thrives on predictability, and the reason is that it wants to protect us.

Our brains have not evolved since the Stone Age, so our limbic system does everything it can to ensure our survival. If we start feeling uncertain, the brain automatically strives to find a way to get us out of that situation or stop us from taking what it considers a risk. The pesky amygdala gets triggered and bypasses the prefrontal cortex (the chairman of the brain). At that stage, we are powerless to make a rational choice.

Why Do We Get Thrown Off Balance?

When focused on positive manifesting, unexpected obstacles can throw you off course. Suppose you apply for a job above your current capabilities, but you have faith you can step up with some training. You get an interview and feel confident about your prospects.

During the interview, the hiring manager asks you a tricky question, and you don’t know the answer. You try and bluff your way through, but your confidence wavers. Suddenly, your resolve that this job belongs to you wavers. Your” request” to the Universe gets cancelled, and you don’t get the job. That knocks your confidence in yourself and your manifestation skills, and you struggle to return to feeling confident about your job prospects.

Law of attraction gurus talk about holding the vibration, but what does that mean? It’s not just about staying positive and writing daily affirmations. It’s more about the bigger picture. Yes, it’s a balance of combining how you think and what you say and do. It’s also about how you react to setbacks because that’s where most of us falter.

When the poop hits the fan, get into the habit of saying, “How interesting“, and notice if you start heading off into the rabbit hole of doom. You’ve asked for more money but lost your job, “How interesting.”

Remember that the Universe dislikes a vacuum and will attempt to fill it as quickly as possible. This moment is when you ramp up your positivity and belief in what you can achieve.

Something better is coming.

Hold the faith. Take action and ask for help from God, the Universe, the Great Spirit or whoever you believe helps you. Express gratitude for every small thing and affirm your requests.

Is it Hard to Become A Content Creator?

April 14, 2024

content creator

You Might Think It’s Easy To become A Content Creator, But It has Challenges

disclaimer

Is it hard to become a content creator?

Creating content seems easy, doesn’t it? However, how challenging is it to become a content creator? Moreover, how much do content creators make and is it worth the effort?

The experts tell us that the $250 trillion creator economy will double in the next four years. Becoming part of that success is a dream for many of us.

When stuck at a desk or your boss is ranting at you, imagining spending your days creating content seems a better alternative. It is, for sure, but there are some essential things to consider.

I’m a freelance writer. Midway through 2023, I lost two big clients, wiping out my income. That’s when I decided to focus on digital marketing and create my own products. However, I’m a widow living in rental accommodation and need a regular income.

After scratching around for work, I have some gigs set up, but I have to pitch every month, so I cannot guarantee the workload. I can’t be **sed to dig deep and get regular work because I am 100% committed to breaking free from the freelance lifestyle. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

So, here’s what I intend to do with my content creation. Then, I will share the challenges that I am sure will be relatable.

  1. Work on my Pinterest strategy. Pinterest is a fantastic search engine
  2. Start a YouTube channel (in progress)
  3. Finally get started with TikTok
  4. Post on Instagram
  5. Acquire partnerships with affiliate products I endorse
  6. Work on my DFU business as that will generate passive income

I felt exhausted just from writing the above list!

Here are the Challenges:

  • Cramming my freelance work for two weeks to give me time to work on my projects
  • Creating pins to schedule 3/day Monday to Friday and 2/day at weekends
  • Feeling too exhausted to create Instagram reels
  • My mentally fried ADHD brain implodes at the thought of creating and (worse) editing it
  • Appointments for hair, doctors, dentists, meeting a friend for lunch, eat into my time

Intention minus lack of time = overwhelm.

Realistically, once I create sufficient income from digital and affiliate marketing, many of these problems go away.

Here’s the truth: You never have as much time as you think, and everything always takes longer than you estimate.

The Next Step if You Want to Become a Content Creator

Be prepared for the amount of work involved. After the first month, I was exhausted. Talking to other content creators on Threads, they feel the same. It’s full on. So, it’s vital to find a rhythm that suits your personality, energy levels and time commitment.

If you work full-time, you have a smaller window of opportunity. However, I believe it’s important to cut yourself some slack and commit to what YOU CAN DO instead of focusing on what YOU CANNOT DO.

I commit to do at least one thing daily towards my future. Consistency and determination are the keys to success. In late April, I began promoting an MRR (master resell rights) product but I had misgivings from day one. There are things about the MRR business model that I don’t align with.

Be aware of how you feel about what you promote, If it doesn’t light up your soul, it may be hard to sell.

How I Manage My Workflow

In early June (2024) I joined a done-for-you business and that ticks all the boxes. It’s ethical, no tech setup, no payment processors and a money back guarantee. You get your own Shopify store with over 200 products and there’s no monthly fees. It’s also less than half the price the MRR is and is 100X the value.

I joined the DFY business because I believe in it. Because I like the business model, the product, the founder and the community, I feel less stressed about getting everything done. It is an easier product to sell than MRR with more benefits, including a money back guarantee, which I think the MRRs should have because they are so expensive.

Anyhoo, here is my approach to managing my workflow.

  1. Pinterest Strategy: My marketing priority is Pinterest. I schedule 3 pins Monday to Friday and two a day at the weekend. On an Excel doc, I plan what pins to post each day and add the link and the times to post. I split throughout the day.
  2. Canva: I create all my pins on Canva, usually in one go. I have around a dozen pin templates and change colours etc.I have studied design to get better and quicker at creating effective pins.
  3. Video Content: The DFU Business gives us 12 months of content. I have 600 aesthetic reels to play with and hundreds of stunning images.
  4. Camera Facing Content: I do about 85% faceless but do one or two camera facing videos each week. I edit in Capcut  (free version) or on canva
  5. Sceduling: I schedule directly on Pinterest and TikTok and Use Metricool (free version) for Instagram.
  6. Instagram Threads: I spend time in the evening on Threads engaging with others and I post 1-3 threads daily.
  7. Instagram Stories: I don’t do enough Instagram stories and I should because they get more traction than reels and posts. However, I just run out of time most days
  8. YouTube: I’m failing dismally. I need to give something up to start doing tutorials on my YouTube channel, which is pretty much dormant

I reckon that lot takes me around two days. Anyone who says you can create an online business as a content creator in 1-2 hours a day is fibbing. For beginners, that is an unrealistic expectation. With more experience, it may be possible. Repurposing content can help and batch creating is a better option than trying to do it daily.

In conclusion, It’s not hard to become a content creator, but there are challenges. However, nobody made me aware of these challenges. I’d have coped better had I known. So, I hope this article helps you to manage better than I did during the first few months of content creation.

Why Lottery Winners Go Broke: How To Change Your Money Mindset

April 14, 2024

money mindset

Do You Think It’s Odd That Lottery Winners Often Lose the Lot?

disclaimer

Why lottery winners go broke?

Have you ever wondered why lottery winners who scoop millions of dollars in prize money go broke? Me too, until quite recently when I discovered that it would happen to me if I didn’t make some changes.

It’s all to do with your money mindset and your financial ceiling.

Eh, what? Financial ceiling? I don’t have one of those!

Excuse me, but you probably do. I say that with authority because I would have denied it, too, until I did the following exercise.

After reading the book 10X is Better than 2X by Benjamin Hardy, I set an income goal of ten times my average income from freelance work. Considering the feast and famine of freelancing, my average was £2,500 a month (yeah, I know. Pitiful, right?).

That made my financial target £25,000 a month.

No problem, I thought. Hah!

I wrote, “I have a consistent income of £25k a month” and sat back.

What was that feeling?

Yikes! I felt uncomfortable with that amount. Genuine discomfort.

My brain began questioning me:

  • How the f**k do you think you’re going to do that?
  • You’ll never be able to “earn” that much money
  • Do you realise how much effort that will take?
  • Be more realistic. Aim for £5k. You could probably do that if you make more effort.
  • Give up!

The disbelief went on.

I knew that if I didn’t change my money mindset and raise that income ceiling to “no ceiling”, I would not EVER attain such dizzy heights of income. Or, if I did, I would eventually lose most of it.

So, thank you, Dr Benjamin Hardy, but I need to do a reframe.

I started day one by writing, “I consistently have an income of £3k a month.”

Did you notice I removed the word “earn.” That’s super important because if you attach earning potential to your financial goal, you will end up exchanging time for money, working crazy hours and suffering from burnout. Use words like “have” or “create” or any word that removes the correlation with “working”, especially for someone else.

Each day, I increased the sum by £1000. It started getting uncomfortable at around £12k a month.

I then added, “I am worthy of £12k a month and much more. I am in the flow of abundance, and the money is there for me if I believe it is so.”

I had more sticking points. It took time to get comfortable with generating £25k a month. That’s OK. You have probably had this money ceiling most of your life.

My parents weren’t well off and constantly argued about money. I grew up believing that: –

  1. There is never enough money
  2. I will have enough to get by.

The trouble with those deep-rooted beliefs is they held me back from stretching to creating more income. I didn’t take risks, but I procrastinated and talked myself out of opportunities (and believed I was right to do so).

Commit to doing this exercise daily or as often as you can. In time, you will believe wealth is easily attainable without selling your soul.

Let me know what you think. What is your money ceiling?

What You Should Know About Passive Income

April 14, 2024

what you should know about passive income

What you should know about passive income and why

You should know about passive income that it’s not easy to achieve. That’s not to say it isn;t possible, because it 100% is.

When I began my digital marketing journey, I soon realised many people aren’t cut out for launching a digital marketing business and making a passive income.

Now, I’m not sure if people are lazy, or it’s learned helplessness or a job mindset, but the number of people I see in Facebook groups asking for help to actually “do” their business for them is higher than you might think.

Here are a few examples: –

  • How do I generate traffic?
  • How do I build a sales page?
  • How do I write an email campaign?

Think of ANY question relating to online sales and marketing, and someone is asking about it. I mean, “How do I get traffic?” does anyone genuinely believe they’ll get the answer with a few lines in a comment?

Here’s the truth

Digital marketing is a business, like any other business, either bricks and mortar or online. You wouldn’t open a pie shop in town without checking the footfall, local interest in pies, what type of pies people want, what prices are acceptable for the location, etc.

For a moment, I assumed people do their due diligence, but they don’t. From 2021 to 2023, several start-up companies I worked for went bankrupt. In each case, to me, the reasons for failure were obvious.

There was mainly a lack of preparation, not considering future obstacles, poor money management, and all the typical rookie mistakes new business owners make.

But, Jan, Isn’t Digital Marketing Easy?

Digital marketing is simple but not necessarily easy. When you start a digital marketing business, it’s a shedload of work, and there’s a gazillion things to learn. I began in November 2023 and am still working on editing my products and setting up automated processes to sell my digital products.

It’s a tad more challenging for me with my ADHD brain, and there are times I think I’ll never get everything in perfect working order. However, I KNOW it will work because I am laying the foundations. Even at this stage, I know I could help small business owners get better results from their social media marketing.

I’m the saddo (AKA entrepreneur), spending hours each week learning about driving organic traffic, social media marketing, understanding the algorithms, creating email campaigns and hooks, editing videos, faceless digital marketing, and anything relevant to my business.

I’ve bought a few in-depth courses, like the TikTok training, but most information is available on YouTube tutorials.

Top Tips: What to Do Before Considering a Digital Marketing Business

Tip #1: Know yourself REALLY Well

To give you an idea of how important it is to know yourself, here are the character traits that get in my way:

  1. I have ADHD, so I hyper-focus – leading to burnout – or procrastinate
  2. I overthink everything – with a slight perfectionist edge
  3. I spend too much time planning
  4. I get lured by shiny objects
  5. I ALWAYS underestimate how long a task will take
  6. If there’s no perceived emotional reward, I lose interest (That’s an ADHD thing)
  7. I crave freedom, so the commitment required for social media marketing clashes with that desire

It’s a lot, though you can probably create an equally impressive list. LOL.

Tip #2: How Much Free Time Do You Have?

Everything always takes longer than you think. That could be because we have time blindness. I have learned that it’s better to overestimate the time required or, even better, set strict time allotments.

Try using an online clock, such as the free  Clockify app, to assess project times (as long as you remember to stop and start it!)

Tip #3: What are you Prepared to Give up?

We know that finite time does not exist, so when you take on a new task, it’s inevitable that you will need to give up something previously taking that space.

Most of us spend time scrolling mindlessly in the evenings, watching Netflix, or playing online games.

One client pays me well but splits the work between multiple writers. I love writing for this company, but the monthly income doesn’t cover all my bills. However, the new company pays significantly less, and the genre does not excite me.

I think I’ve decided what to do because I am super close to having my first product bundle ready, which is exciting.

I hope you found this article helpful. If you genuinely want a successful digital marketing business, you will do everything necessary to make it happen. It helps if you love the digital marketing space, enjoy creating content and are happy to put in the time, knowing it could happen in a day or take months.
