3 Ways to Get Your Content Ranking on Google?

June 4, 2024

rank content on google

Rank Content on Google and See Your Traffic & Sales Increase

You might assume it takes months to rank content on Google, especially in a competitive industry. The experts suggest you cannot rank without a gazillion backlinks and high domain authority. That, however, is untrue. With the right SEO content strategy, you can dominate the SERPs (search engine results pages)

With the right keywords and well-written SEO content, it’s surprising how quickly you can rank.

I completely changed my focus on Wolfheart a month or so ago. It was my SEO writing website for clients for three years. As I am moving away from client work into digital marketing, I deleted all my content and started again.

Within two weeks, several of my articles ranked as snippets (the disadvantages of faceless marketing) and some on the first page (building a faceless brand). I haven’t worked on my site properly with SEO for a long time, but I know how to write SEO content and the types of keywords and keyword phrases to use.

SEO Is Easy When You Know How

If you don’t have experience in SEO writing, consider using an AI SEO writer. I recommend SEO Writing, which has a free aspect. You can write 5,000 words per month. It’s also low cost if you upgrade to the paid version.

The trick is to find low-hanging fruit and low-difficulty keywords and then write content that helps the reader specifically. Gone are the days when you could write purely to try and rank on SERPs.

After the Google Helpful content update on the 14th of September, 2023, many websites tanked, including this one. Small bloggers really suffered.

Some users reported traffic dropping by 80%. That’s only a problem if you don’t know what to do. Or, you have thousands of search engine-targeted pages rather than user-centric content.

I recommend reading the Google Helpful content guidelines to understand what you should and shouldn’t be doing if you want your pages to rank.

Tip #1: Write SEO Content

I studied SEO in 2020, by taking a few free courses, such as Hubspot’s FREE SEO certificated course. It won’t teach you everything about being a writer, but it’s a good start to understanding SEO. I earned a good income as an SEO writer before I began transitioning to digital marketing.

SEO writing is about finding keywords and phrases that are likely to rank. If you have no domain authority (DA) you need to target low difficulty keywords. I’ll write about that soon, I promise.

google results

From 20 clicks/28 days in May to 250 clicks/28 days in early August. This Is Increasing Traffic to My Offers

Driving traffic to your offers or products is the goal for every business online. If you aren’t taking advantage of free organic traffic, you are missing an opportunity to get more sales. Check my SEO writing services if you need help ranking content on Google SERPs.

If the thought of writing SEO content makes you want to stick pins in your eyes, you could consider an AI SEO writing tool. Some of them aren’t great and sound robotic. The  SEO writing software is pretty good. With the free version, you get 5,000 words and up to 5 articles. It’s one of the lowest proced AI writers at only $14 a month for up to 50 articles with unlimited words. That would save you a truckload of time.

Tip #2: Using ChatGPT for Final Drafts

If you’re not a writer and are unsure if your content is good enough for publishing, you can use ChatGPT to tighten up the content for SEO.

When you’ve finished writing the content, post it in ChatGPT and use a prompt similar to the one below:

” Is this page properly optimised for the search term [xxx]? Does it include enough semantically related terms to be thorough? If so, just tell me it’s good. If not, add more so it is fully optimised, but ensure it reads naturally and makes perfect sense. Use bold text on all new content and keywords you add. Here’s the content…”

After that, use the prompt.

“Let’s add an extra keyword-rich section at the bottom. Make it benefit-driven and read naturally”

And, finally…

“Is the new page with the changes and extra section now fully optimised for the term [keyword phrase], and are there any other secondary keywords I can add?”

Succeeding with SEO is not about working harder. It’s about working smarter.

Tip #3: Use Pinterest to Boost Your Traffic

If you don’t know it yet, Pinterest is a powerful search engine. It is not a social media platform like the others. I’m gaining significant traction for my digital marketing business and traffic to my website. Within a couple of months I am up to 5k monthly views and I’m now ramping up my efforts after taking a Pinterest SEO course.

It can be tricky to know where to start with Pinterest. Check my post about the Best Pinterest courses or best Pin design there is a link to a free Pinterest strategy guide, which got me started on improving my pin strategy.

Don’t miss out on Pinterest. I repeat, it is a potential goldmine. However, read my post about how NOT to get your Pinterest account suspended.

Continually work on your SEO for your website and the social media descriptions you write. It pays off in the end.

Note: 26th August: My CRT is now 1.8% and 300 clicks in 28 days

Metricool Social Media Management Review 2025

June 1, 2024

metricool social media management

Metricool Outdoes Most of the Social Media Management Schedulers On the Market. 4.5* Trustpilot reviews

I’ve been using the free version of the Agorapulse social media management tool for a while. As my digital marketing efforts have ramped up, having the availability to schedule only ten posts a week isn’t enough.

As Agorapulse is $49 a month, I didn’t want to pay that much. I shopped around for a better alternative and found Metricool, which is very cool and low-cost!

The Metricool Platform Has:

  • A social media planner
  • Automated reports
  • Best times to post (that can change in time, so this is super helpful)
  • Best hashtags
  • Reply to comments from the platform (very cool)
  • AI copywriting assistant
  • Competitor analysis
  • Historical data
  • SmartLinks

Metricool has 1.7 million users. You can connect all of your social media platforms and your website. I found that it was easy to use to connect my WordPress website. All you do is install the Metricool plugin and add the verification code, and you are connnected.

Things I Like About Metricool

Competitor Analysis

The competitor analysis enables you to inspect influencers in your field and identify trends. You can track your competitors on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch. You can track up to 100 of your competitors on the paid plans.

That tool can significantly improve your content marketing strategy.

Inbox Functionality

Instead of spending hours hopping from one social media channel to another responding to comments, you can manage everything from your Metricool dashboard. Wowza!

This one tool alone can save you hours each week.

Content Planner

You can schedule up to 50 pieces of content on the free plan. It’s one of the most generous free plans I have seen in social media management platforms.

You can create reels, pins (it’s best to schedule directly with the Pinterest scheduler), TikTok videos and more. The colour-coded calendar is pleasantly visual, so you can monitor what’s coming up and choose the best times for posting content for each social media channel.

After scheduling your content, it is easy to edit and change dates, times, etc.

AI Assistant

Sometimes, I write descriptions ahead, but it is time-consuming. The Metricool AI Assistant is fantastic and dramatically shortens the time needed to create text for your content and avoid the dreaded writer’s block.

You can choose tone of voice, length and more.

Metricool Free Plan Is For Life

There is no 30-day trial as there is with many of the social media schedulers.

What you get:

  • Up to 50 scheduled posts each month
  • Up to 3 months of historical data
  • Analyse up to 5 competitor profiles
  • Use the AI assistant up to 3 times
  • All social media platforms except Twitter & LinkedIn

The paid version starts at ONLY $18 a month if you pay annually or $22 if you choose monthly payments.

Metricool is fantastic value. It is intuitive to use, and you get so much for so little money. I am spreading the word because most social media scheduling platforms are overpriced and tricky to use.

Metricool has a 4.5* Trustpilot rating.

Try it, and let me know how you get along.

Best Pinterest Courses 2025: My Own First-Hand Experience

May 30, 2024

best pinterest courses

The best Pinterest courses provide simple but effective guidance to pinning success

When I opened my first Pinterest account, I had no idea what I was doing. Moreover, I didn’t spend time researching the best Pinterest courses to help me understand how to succeed on the platform. Subsequently, I made a ton of mistakes, some that cost me dearly and obliterated six months of hard work.

After I fluffed up, I started looking for Pinterest courses, so I didn’t mess up my next account. Oh yes, sorry. I didn’t mention my first Pinterest account got suspended!

So, in 2024, I got serious about Pinterest and took several courses from recognised Pinterest experts. Above all, these courses helped me:

  • Learn how to master Pinterest SEO
  • Top tips to make Pinterest work for my niche
  • How to drive traffic to your website and offers
  • Not make the kind of mistakes that get your account banned
  • Create beautiful, effective pins that get clicks and saves

After six months of wasting time and energy on pointless social media marketing, I was burnt out. I quit that malarky and added Pinterest to my marketing strategy. It was the best decision I made in 2024.

Moreover, I had no idea that Pinterest is such a powerful search engine. It can drive traffic to your blog, offers, courses, etc. As Pinterest demographics is predominantly women, I thought it was all about recipes, fashion and other girly stuff.

Boy, was I wrong!

Why I Started Pinning On Pinterest

In late 2023, I opened a Substack account and started sharing newsletters. Around the same time, I opened a Gumroad store to sell digital products.

All was going well until Substack closed my account, accusing me of phishing. What the heck is that? I had no idea, but after checking, I most certainly hadn’t done it. I’d posted around forty articles and was getting daily subscribers.

Substack refused to reinstate my account or explain how I had done what they’d said.

Shortly after, Gumroad closed my account after months of creating content, images, and publishing. I didn’t know the platform doesn’t allow MRR (master resell rights) products or PLR (private label rights). Oh, and it took the feckers six months to tell me!

I suddenly realised these third-party platforms hold all the cards. They controlled my content and could take it down in a nanosecond.

As I hate feeling controlled, I decided to take the reins and become a content creator without limits.

Primarily, I stripped every post and page off my website and started afresh, with the intent of monetising my blog with affiliate marketing and, later, ad revenue. My goal was to get approved by Journey by Mediavine (achieved in April 2025 Yay).

In addition, I started pinning on Pinterest.

Why I Chose Pinterest to Market My Business?

Pinterest is a search engine. Above all, it isn’t a social media marketing platform. In the first half of 2024, Pinterest reported 522 million MAUs (monthly active users), with the United States having the most MAUs (98 million).

  • 75% of Pinterest users are women
  • The average annual income of Pinterest users is $100k
  • Demographics report that 40% of MAUs are Gen Z, with an average age of 25 – 34
  • The number of saved pins on Pinterest is 1.5 billion weekly

I chose Pinterest for the following reasons:

  • You do NOT need followers to succeed on Pinterest.
  • It’s not “busy” like social media platforms such as Instagram.
  • I wanted to curate my blog content to drive additional traffic to my website.
  • I love being creative, so pin design is perfect for me.

Moreover, you can drive traffic to your website, TikTok or YouTube channel, Instagram, affiliate offers, and landing pages.

In addition, Pinterest can help your business get more subscribers.

Why Do You Need A Pinterest Course?

Come on. Don’t be silly, now. Why would you not?

Pinterest has the potential to create life changing results and you’re questioning whether it’s worth investing in a bit of knowledge. In addition, if you don’t have graphic design skills, your pins will get lost.

Understanding typography, colour psychology and keyword placement are significant factors in getting your pins saved and encouraging outward-bound clicks.

Have a browse through Pinterest and observe the thousands of poorly designed pins. You can do better.

Pinterest SEO (search engine optimisation) helps your pins get found in searches on the platform and Google SERPs.

My Recommended Pinterest Courses

All of these courses are fabulous and all are different to each other. Pinterest Pin Perfection transformed my design skills for every image I create (even YouTube thumbnails), not just pins. Pinterest Rank Boost 2.0, the SEO course is excellent and helps me create SEO-optimised pins, meaning they are more likely to rank.

Scheduling Shortcuts Course is an in-depth powerhouse of a course for a reasonable price and Pin Potential is the creme de la creme of Pinterest courses, but does come at a premium price.

#5: Pin Potential

Last, but most certainly not least, is Pin Potential one of the best Pinterest courses on the market.

I’ve known Meagan for a while as I often engage with her content on Threads. Indeed, she helped me see the power of Pinterest.

Meagan was one of the first ever to use Pinterest in 2015 and now runs workshops for Pinterest themselves, as well as helping clients build a presence on Pinterest.

Meagan helped me realise that you CAN make a full-time income from pinning on Pinterest. Yes, it can take 3-6 months of consistent pinning and you need an ongoing bank of content. Still, if you can get through the first 6-12 months of building your Pinterest account, it can help you create a semi-passive income (or even passive) for years. For example, last week I received a $498.00 affiliate commission that tracked back to one of my Pinterest pins posted months earlier.

Pin Potential is a fabulously in-depth course. In addition, Meagan teaches you step by step to master Pinterest marketing for your business. Plus, you get full access to her, which is invaluable.

In the 9-step course curriculum, you will learn how to increase traffic, grow your audience and make consistent sales in just 30 minutes a week.

Meagan has worked with Pinterest since 2015 and runs courses for them as well as working as a Pinterest manager for clients

In conclusion, Pin Potential isn’t the cheapest Pinterest course, but it is one of the best if you are serious about marketing your business with Pinterest. In addition, remember that training is tax deductable if you run a business.

Note: The Pin Potential course only opens a few times a year and gets swamped with applicants.

Recommended Pinterest Tools: Pin Generator & Pin Inspector

If you’re serious about Pinterest marketing, you’ve probably come across Pin Generator and Pin Inspector —two popular tools designed to help you grow on Pinterest. Still, which one is right for you? It depends on whether you want to grow fast, save time or both. The following is a quick breakdown to help you decide.

Pin Generator Review

Pin Generator is an AI-powered Pinterest automation tool that helps you create, schedule, and post pins automatically. It takes me around an hour to create around 21 pins on Canva, another hour to write descriptions and another hour to schedule the lot. It gets tiresome after a few months of that weekly regime.

✅ Pros

  • Auto-generates pins from your website or blog (no manual design needed!)
  • Bulk scheduling to keep your Pinterest active 24/7
  • AI-powered designs that match Pinterest’s best practices
  • Keyword optimisation to boost SEO and reach more users
  • Time-saving—great for bloggers, businesses, and content creators

❌ Cons

  • Limited design customisation. It’s not as flexible as Canva, where you have design creativity. Still, design is less important than the messaging and CTA. Only you can decide whether you can let go of the creative aspect of Canva.

Is There A Free Plan?

No, but they offer a free trial to test how it works before committing. In addition, you can then pay a monthly subscription or get a generous discount when choosing an annual plan. Pin Generator also offers a time-activated lifetime plan.

Who Should Use Pin Generator?

It is ideal for bloggers, business owners, and Pinterest marketers who want to create more pins and save time by automating pin creation and scheduling.

Choose Pin Generator if you want a hands-off, automated Pinterest strategy with AI-generated pins and scheduling.

Pin Inspector Review

Pin Inspector is a Pinterest keyword and analytics tool that helps you find high-performing keywords, trending pins, and competitor insights.

✅ Pros

  • Find viral Pinterest keywords to help your pins rank higher
  • Analyse competitor pins to see what’s working in your niche
  • Discovers trending topics so you can create content people are searching for
  • Great for SEO—helps optimise descriptions for better visibility

❌ Cons

  • Erm! Can’t think of any. It’s an affordable tool for improving Pinterest results

Is There A Free Plan?

No, but Pin Generator offer a surprisingly reasonable one-time payment (no monthly subscription!), which is great for long-term use. There’s often a $20 discount on the website homepage, too.

Who Should Use It?

Perfect for Pinterest SEO experts, bloggers, and marketers who want to boost visibility with the right keywords and trends.

Pin Inspector is excellent for researching trending Pinterest keywords, platform trends, and competitor strategies to improve Pinterest SEO.

Conclusion

In conclusion, since doing some of the best Pinterest courses, I increased outbound clicks by 171%. If I hadn’t messed up my first account, which I started with no Pinterest training, I would be a lot further ahead. Basically, I had to start from scratch with a new account. Please read my blog post about when Pinterest suspended my account. It will help you avoid a deeply unpleasant experience of losing months of effort.

In addition, my monthly views doubled within a few weeks, and my website traffic quadrupled. As a result of these courses, I am ramping up my Pinterest focus and spending less time on Instagram content. In addition, I started getting affiliate commissions within 3-4 months of pinning.

Can You Succeed on TikTok With A Faceless Account?

May 27, 2024

faceless tiktok marketing

Not everyobody wants their face on camera. Faceless marketing is popular with all ages, not least that it’s easier

TikTok is a strange platform. Many people find it baffling and never get out of the 200-view jail.

Before continuing, I must tell you that having low views doesn’t mean you cannot succeed with your faceless digital marketing business.

Although there are disadvantages to faceless marketing, it is so much easier and less stressful when you’re creating every day.

The lady I bought my digital marketing program from, hit $50k in her first few months, posting three times daily on TikTok. Even now, she rarely gets more than 300 views, but she’s averaging $10k to $20k months now. That said, she is 100% on camera. I don’t think that’s sustainable 365 days a year, not even if you batch create content.

Here’s How the TikTok Algorithm Works

TikTok chucks a video out to a select audience when you post it. Therefore, if people only watch a percentage of the video and you don’t get engagement in that first tier, TikTok doesn’t show it to anyone else.

Meanies …

The Four levels of the TikTok Algorithm

  1. 50 – 5k
  2. 5k – 10k
  3. 25k – 100k
  4. 1M – 1B

When you first start posting content, it’s trial and error. You find your way around what works and what doesn’t.

I’ve been posting twice daily, five times a week since May 2024. I started with face forward but developed a rash on my face and neck in May, so switched to faceless.

I now post 100% faceless content that performs as well as, or better than, my face-forward content, and I’m getting more follows.

What the Heck Matters to TikTok?

One word.

Watchtime.

That is all that matters.

You need people to watch your video content to the end. As most people have the attention span of a speck of dust, that is no mean feat.

The first few weeks I posted on TikTok, I droned on like I was talking to my bestie.

I tried to make my content entertaining. I added subtitles and music. But those goldfish-brained TikTokers just weren’t playing ball.

That said, I have consistently averaged around 450 views, so better than most.

Jan, Get to the Point! Can A Faceless Account Succeed on TikTok?

Oops, sorry. Although, sorry, not sorry. I’ve just shared vital information with you, so stop moaning.

The short answer is “yes.” You can succeed with a Faceless TikTok account. The proviso depends on several factors, and I will list those below.

8 Top Tips To Improve TikTok Watchtime

Tip #1: Do Shorter Videos

Don’t do as I did and do the “people-pleasing” stuff. I ensured that text was on the screen long enough for people to read. Doh.

Why would they hang around?

Create video content 6 – 8 seconds long. Add longer snippets of text that people cannot read in 8 seconds (bless them)

Once you have built a decent following, you can post longer content (up to 30 minutes now!) because people will binge-watch your videos.

Tip 2: The First 3 Seconds Count

If you fail to grab attention in the first few seconds, people won’t watch the entire video, even if it is 6 seconds. Don’t lead with an introduction or any waffle.

Get to the point. Make a big claim, use humour or a powerful image.

Tip #3: Focus on Getting Engagement

Ask questions, post a contrary point of view, or do something that evokes a response in people. Don’t be vanilla.

Tip #4: Have A Great Hook

Many people confuse a hook with a heading. The latter is boring.

A few examples of hooks:

  • You won’t believe what happened to me …
  • I told a lie …
  • The most surprising thing about (whatever) …
  • Who else wants more money?
  • How I generated $10k in my first month from Pinterest

Examples of headings:

  • My holiday in Spain
  • Why I wear contact lenses
  • I built a website
  • My gran likes doughnuts (although, LOL, that could work)

The hook must be visible on the cover so people see it immediately before watching the video. I made that mistake for three weeks.

faceless on tiktok

Tip #5: Focus on the Problem

Assuming you have identified your niche, what problem keeps your target audience awake, and do you have the solution?

Identify and prod your target audience’s pain points in your video content. If they feel an emotional response, they intuitively know you understand them.

Tip #6: Bridge The Gap

Show the viewer how your product bridges the gap between the problem and the solution. For example, if you run a pest control business, you’d show you can get rid of vermin quickly and efficiently. Use visuals to create impact.

A faceless TikTok account works well if you can show the bridge between the problem and the solution.

Tip #7: Use Good Quality Images

As you’re doing faceless content, you can use images with transitions. Use these images to tell a story. If using video content, record with the best quality available.

If you’re a woman in digital marketing, you have multiple options for creating faceless content.

Tip #8: Always Add Subtitles

I use Capcut for editing. You can use this free software on a mobile or desktop or download it to your laptop. It’s entirely free and easy to use. It has a range of different subtitle styles. I go for one where the text highlights with a colour for each word. Canva is also brilliant for creating unique video content with transitions.

Many people watch TikTok at work or in public, so have the sound off. Subtitles are essential for a better user experience.

Bonus Tip #9

If you struggle with faceless content ideas, search for successful faceless accounts in your industry on TikTok and save their viral content to a collection. Did you know you can create collections on TikTok? You should see the button in your account.

Don’t copy this content. Use it to brainstorm content styles, duration, etc.

Conclusion

To sum up, there are multiple reasons for choosing faceless digital marketing. Often, people don’t want their boss or family to see them online. Or, you might not like the idea of having your face all over the Internet. I started with 50% faceless content, and, honestly, I’m edging towards more faceless marketing.

If you can create good quality faceless content, you can succeed on TikTok. Faceless marketing is so popular today and will continue growing.

How Much Do Content Creators Make? (2025)

May 6, 2024

How Much Do Content Creators Make

Content Creation Can be Lucrative But It Takes Time to Build An Audience

So, you’re considering becoming a content creator and wondering how much money you can make. Content creation is a big business, but many fail to make a financial impact.

Browse any social media platform, and you’ll find a mixed bag of well-produced content alongside the poorest quality content, and that’s the difference.

The first thing to consider is whether you want to create content in-house for a company or step into the freelance world and take your chances.

What is the Average Income For A Content Creator?

Well, you might as well ask how long a piece of string is because there are so many variables to consider. However, I will try to narrow it down to specific situations based on whether someone is employed or a freelance content creator with a large audience that engages with their content.

Average Income For An Employed Content Creator

The average income for an employed content creator in the United States is between $50k and $80k. That depends on the size of the company. Blue chip companies pay higher, but you might start with less if you work with a start-up.

Average Income For A Freelance Content Creator

Here’s where it gets tricky to provide accurate figures. If you’re starting out as a content creator, you’d make more money working for McDonalds. However, if you’re near to becoming an influencer, look out. It’s raining cash.

Many top-level content creaters easily become 6 and 7 figure earners.

Once many thousands of followers engage with your content, it’s easy to get brand deals, and that’s where most of the money is.

Bear in mind these figures change constantly; here’s a rough idea.

  • Instagram Content Creators make $10 to $1,000 per post
  • The TikTok Content Creator Fund Program can generate $0.20 to $0. 40 per 1,000 views
  • YouTube pays variable advertising revenues depending on the niche, from a few dollars up to $18+ per 1,000 views

Another factor to consider is whether you produce faceless content as that can take longer to build momentum.

Successful Content Creators Diversify For A Higher Income

The trick to making more income as a content creator is to diversify. For instance, you may create courses, sell coaching or mentoring, or sell affiliate products and services you promote on your channel.

Indeed, many content creators base the foundation of their earning potential on add-ons to platform monetisation.

How to Make Money as a Content Creator

Get started. That’s more than most people do. Once you start, keep going because that’s where many fail. Your posts get met by crickets for a long time, and it feels like you’re talking to yourself.

Consistency is 100% the key to success. It may take weeks or months to build a following and even longer to get engagement, but it will come.

Be Authentic

Don’t copy others. Be yourself and let your personality shine through. Provide value and share genuine content.

Engage With Your Audience

Always respond to comments. Encourage conversation and help build your community of followers.

Network With Other Content Creators

Connect with others and support each other. You could do guest podcasts or duets and things like that.

Build An Email List

Suppose you have 100k followers on one channel, and the platform closes your account. Bam! Just like that, you’ve lost your audience. Building an email list ensures you can still access your audience and offer them subscriber discounts on products, services and courses.

Note: You can build a subscriber list up to 2k for free

Sell Merchandise

When you have an engaged audience, they are keen to buy merchandise from you. Run special offers, discounts and deals specific to your audience.

Offer A Mentoring or Coaching Service

Almost without intention, once you have some success online, people start asking about mentoring and coaching. They want to be where you are and believe you can help them.

Consider Starting A Membership Site

Instead of one-to-one mentoring or coaching, a membership site can be a productive alternative. There are dozens of paid options online, such as Skool, Kajabi, Patreon and Mighty Networks. They all have monthly or annual fees, but when making money as a content creator, these fees are tax deductible.

Sign Brand Deals

Brand deals will open up as your popularity grows. Companies will pay you for a mention, and these can be lucrative. Top influencers suggest aligning brands with your own and ensuring they are ethical products. Otherwise, your audience could lose trust in your reviews.

Conclusion

My journey into content creation is always work in progress. I joined a DFU Business in June 2024 and am really enjoying that journey.

I’d suggest a long look at yourself before starting because the early (what feels like) rejection can be hard to stomach. Personally, I have no desire to become an influencer.

I want to create watchable content and have fun doing it. It’s taken me a few months to accept this is a long game. It’s not something to do for a few weeks or months and then forget about.

Enjoy. Have fun, and monitor your progress.

8 Steps to Building A Faceless Brand

8 Steps to Building A Faceless Brand

Building A Faceless Brand Can Be Fun. Indeed, Make That The Goal

I started building a faceless brand for an unusual reason. I didn’t mind being on camera. I’d often film on my phone when out walking with my dogs. I could kid myself I was working, hahaha.

Anyhow, I woke up one morning with a face like an angry beetroot, some sort of weird rash. I took antihistamines for a week but it didn’t improve.

It took months for that rash to calm down, despite stronger meds from the doctor. Meantime, I started creating faceless content and, you know what. I enjoyed it. There is far less editing and it’s quicker to throw some images or video shots together. Plus, I had more fun as I didn’t have to keep air filtering my old face!

There are disadvantages to faceless marketing, of course. For instance, psychological studies show that we are more responsive to advertising if it features a person or group of people. Still, don’t let that put you off building a faceless brand.

Step 1: Identify Your Audience

You’re probably yawning because you’d prefer watching paint dry. However, as tedious as it is, identifying your audience is essential for building a faceless brand.

Take time to work out the demographics and psychographics of your audience. You might want to create a buyer persona to target your marketing to that person. Somehow, that energy is conveyed subconsciously to people.

  1. How old?
  2. Location
  3. Tone of voice
  4. Interests & hobbies
  5. What is important to them?
  6. What do they do for work?
  7. What products do they use?
  8. What is the average income?
  9. What is not important to them?
  10. What do they want from life & work?
  11. What do they watch on TV or YouTube?
  12. What’s their inside leg measurement and do they like blueberry pie?

Research where your audience hangs out. There’s no point posting content on TikTok if your target audience prefers Instagram. For the latter, you might find the Instagram Faceless Strategy Guide helpful. YouTube is an excellent platform for finding most audiences and I’ve put together top tips for YouTube growth based on me stalking  following several YouTube gurus.

Step 2: Study The Competition

Study the successful faceless brand competitors in your niche, and work through the following questions: –

  1. What are their strengths?
  2. What are their weaknesses?
  3. What makes this brand unique?
  4. What tone of voice do they have?
  5. How do they structure their website?
  6. What social media platforms do they use?
  7. Which platforms do they get the most engagement?
  8. Do they use SEO? (Do a Google search for relevant keywords)
  9. Do they have a subscriber list? If yes, subscribe to assess their email campaign

By completing step 2, you should have an excellent overview of at least two of your top competitors. After that, model their strategies (NOT copy-find a unique spin of your own)

Step 3: Define Your Brand’s Position And Purpose

I’d recommend reading Simon Sinek’s book Start With Why. He says, and I agree that people don’t care what you do. They care why you do it—your underlying “why” will attract your tribe without you having to repeat the message.

You can find Simon’s content on YouTube if you search for his name.

Write a mission statement and elevator speech. Dig deep to understand why you’re doing what you do. If you’re doing it only for the money, your audience will sense that.

There must be a deeper purpose. Also, having a concrete “why” helps keep you motivated when times get tricky.

Step 4: Develop A Brand Personality And Voice

If you’re unsure of your brand personality and voice, I recommend reading Awakening the The Hero Within by Carol S Pearson. It’s about the six archetypes based on Jungian psychology (don’t worry. It’s an easy read).

The book will help you find a relatable archetype you can use throughout your brand creation. It will help you identify your natural strengths and understand your weaknesses.

A relatable brand personality and voice will be the backbone of your positioning and marketing.

Step 5: Create Your Brand Story

If you want to understand the power of storytelling, get the book Building A StoryBrand by Donald Miller, a leading expert on storytelling for business.

Your story must be relatable to your audience and follow a beginning, middle, and end structure.

You are the protagonist in the story, of course, but Donald’s Book teaches you to start with your customer as the central character, with you as the guide who leads them through their process and call to action.

Start using storytelling in your blog and marketing material.

Step 6: Pick A Brand Name

Your brand name must be easy to undertstand. Make it easy to pronounce and spell. Once you decide on a few names, research the internet to check for similar brand names. Remember, be unique.

Naming your brand is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Most top brand names are either abbreviations or one to two words. They are usually memorable and easy to say and spell.

Step 7: Choose A Slogan

Slogans should be short and catchy. Think of Nike’s slogan Just Do It. It doesn’t get simpler than that. It can capture an attitude or represent “what it does on the tin”, such as “Lunard Couriers Get it Done Faster.”

Your slogan could highlight a benefit, or it could rhyme. Don’t worry. You can change your slogan if you wish. Test out a few to see which ones your audience responds to.

Step 8: Design Your Brand Colours, Style & Logo

Did you notice the brand colours and logo are at step 8? The mistake most new businesses make is to start with this step, and that leads to problems if you don’t define positioning, brand personality, and voice.

Study the competition to see what colours they have for their brands. Are they loud and bright or subtle tones? That could be important because it matters to the relevant audience.

You don’t need to spend a fortune hiring a graphic designer to create your logo. There are so many options online for logo creation. Even Canva does a pretty good job.

Create a style guide, which includes font style and size for text and headings. Decide what type of images you want to use. Depending on your chosen brand colours, the images should complement the brand.

Conclusion

Test your brand and see how your audience responds. If it fails to land, don’t be afraid to tweak your branding or even completely rebrand. The main thing is that you feel passionate about your brand personality and voice because, ultimately, your business represents who you are.

If necessary, shift the colours, change the logo or the slogan, and keep assessing if you have chosen the right archetype for the business.

These 8 steps to building a faceless brand are no different to any other branding. Perhaps you want to do 50/50 faceless marketing. If that’s the case, use the same process because it works.

Have fun. Building a faceless brand needn’t be tedious or difficult. If you plan to be in business for a long time, start as you mean to go on and make it fun.

Faceless digital marketing should be fun, and there’s no reason you cannot build a unique brand.

3 Things I Wish I’d Known Sooner About Digital Marketing

April 28, 2024

things about digital marketing

Everybody touts that affiliate marketing is the best way to secure a passive income. However, there are a few details that nobody tells you, and it means the difference between people pushing through the challenges of digital and affiliate marketing or giving up altogether.

Here’s the truth:

  1. Passive income from digital marketing (and affiliate marketing) takes a lot of work
  2. There are multiple moving parts to master before money rains down from the sky
  3. It can take considerable time to start earning passive income

I believe integrity must rule when selling information to our audience. We’re dealing with human beings who may be vulnerable, anxious and struggling to pay the bills. They may have zero knowledge about sales and social media marketing, and they trustingly believe the advice of someone making a lot of money online.

Yes, digital and affiliate marketing may be the easiest way to make money online. Still, many people get stuck in the process because the gurus make it challenging to understand that it can be simple.

Indeed, it SHOULD be simple, but that doesn’t mean it is easy.

I come from a direct sales background. Back then, my entire focus was on building relationships with my clients based on trust and integrity, and nothing has changed for me on my digital marketing journey.

I want to do my best for people, not con them into buying expensive courses I haven’t used, purchased, or succeeded with. Yet so many have no problems with that.

Anyhoo, that’s my digital marketing rant over. Now, we’ll focus on how to get started and set yourself up for success so you can start making passive income later down the road.

Step 1

Choose a reputable marketing platform. I use Systeme because you can get started for free. I pay $27 a month and have email campaigns and sales pages set up on there for my digital marketing business. I’m also taking their certified sales funnel building course.

Customer service is excellent, and you can use the marketing tools without the pressure of a monthly subscription. I have just upgraded because I’m building more sales pages and adding more products and custom domains. I love Systeme, its ethos and its quality tools.

Step 2

Decide if you want to:

  1. Sell other people’s digital products
  2. Create your own digital products
  3. Buy PLR products you can edit and make your own
  4. Buy MRR products to resell for 100%
  5. Buy a DFU Business

I am doing a mix of options. I ONLY promote programs I use and am happy with, such as Systeme. In addition, it’s best to promote products offering at least 25% commissions.

Step 3

Create a free lead magnet to give away to subscribers. Honestly, don’t offer some crappy PLR that you got for free. Buy a template you can edit so you can add value. Be happy to give away free stuff that offers a transformation for subscribers. Start as you mean to go and build trust with your audience.

Step 4

Create a landing page for your first product. A simple squeeze page and thank you page is acceptable. Systeme has multiple templates to make setting up your first page for free quick and easy.

Step 5

Create an email campaign relative to the free product. For instance, If your freebie is about faceless social media marketing, your email campaign should be relative to providing that information.

Don’t be in a rush to promote products. Warm your subscribers first by leading with value.

Step 6

Choose two or three social media channels to focus on. Pinterest is a fantastic search engine, and TikTok can be a great platform once you build momentum.

YouTube may be slower, but build a long-term content strategy around it because there are endless opportunities for digital and affiliate marketing add-on bonuses, like coaching, brand deals and more. You can build a faceless brand on YouTube and succeed.

Now, here’s the thing. Creating or editing PLR products is time-consuming, but I recommend ALWAYS making them your own, adding your own spin and increasing their value.

Your first sales page might take you several hours. You might fluff up when adding a custom domain or tags or automating the process. That’s absolutely normal. I put off doing my first sales page for over six months. When I finally did it. I felt ashamed and embarrassed because it was easier than I expected.

Conclusion

Setting up to create automated passive income from digital and affiliate marketing takes time and always takes you longer than you think. I’ve been working on my back-end set-up and product creation for over a month and am still not ready to go. I might be slower because I won’t sell mediocre products to my customers.

Everything becomes easier once you have your automated system in place. You can add more products in your own time. Additionally, you can promote your products on other marketplaces like Etsy, Gumroad and Creative Fabrica.

The opportunities are endless.

So, my apologies for my early rant. I hope you see where I’m coming from. Integrity, honesty and authenticity are the most critical aspects of building any relationship, whether a partnership or selling digital products online. I hope you feel the same way.
