Long-Tail Keyword Research: The Most Effective SEO Strategy

February 24, 2025

Long-tail keyword reaearch is the secret weapon of successful SEO strategies, offering a powerful way to attract highly targeted traffic to your website. Did you know that 70% of all search queries are long-tail keywords? This staggering statistic highlights their importance in today’s digital landscape.

Understanding Long-Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords are specific, often longer phrases that users type into the search box when looking for precise information or products. These phrases typically consist of three or more words and are more specific than short keywords.

For example, instead of “shoes,” a user might search for “women’s comfortable running shoes for flat feet.” Long-tail keywords are specific and may have lower search volume and often lower competition than broader, more generic terms.

That makes them perfect for niche long-tail keyword research, targeting specific customer segments with low-competition keywords.

Long tail keywords are easy to rank in SERPs. Some of my posts rank page one or #1 within hours, thanks to keyword mapping strategies and using long-tail keyword research tools.

What’s The Difference Between Long-Tail And Short-Tail Keywords?

When comparing long-tail keywords to short-tail keywords, the differences become apparent.

Short-tail keywords are usually one or two words long and have high search volumes. They’re often more competitive and, therefore, more challenging to rank for. For instance, “digital camera” is a short-tail keyword. In contrast, long-tail keywords like “best digital camera for wildlife photography under $500” are much more specific and targeted because of user intent matching.

Although long-tail keywords may typically have lower search volumes individually, they collectively make up most search queries, so content marketing strategies focusing on them are key for success.

The Benefits of Long-Tail Keywords

The benefits of long-tail keyword research for SEO and conversion rates are significant. First, they often have less competition, making ranking your content easier with keyword difficulty scores and search engine results page (SERP) features.

This increased visibility can lead to more organic traffic to your website. Additionally, long-tail keywords typically have higher conversion rates because they capture users with specific intent who are often further along in the buying process. When someone searches for a precise term, they’re more likely to find what they’re looking for, increasing the chances of conversion.

Moreover, long-tail keywords align closely with voice search queries. These are becoming increasingly common with the rise of digital assistants and should be something to target when writing blog posts.

Voice search queries provide valuable insights into user intent, a vital element of SEO success. These insights help you to write targeted and relevant content. Adding long-tail keyword research to your SEO strategy can attract organic and qualified traffic and improve your search rankings. In addition, they can drive better results for your business.

Keyword Research Tools

long-tail keyword research

Keyword research tools are invaluable for finding effective long-tail keywords. While primarily designed for PPC campaigns, Google Keyword Planner offers insights into search volumes for long-tail search phrases and competition levels for various keywords. It’s a great starting point for discovering potential long-tail variations of your main keywords.

More advanced tools like Ahrefs and SEMrush are great for long-tail keyword research and provide even deeper insights, including latent semantic indexing (LSI) and keyword clustering techniques to refine your long-tail keyword strategy.

These platforms offer features such as keyword difficulty scores, SERP analysis, and content gap analysis. They can help you find long-tail keywords for which your competitors are ranking. In addition, you can identify untapped opportunities in your niche.

Note: I don’t use expensive SEO software. Ubersuggest is free, and although it is limited compared to software like Ahrefs, you get a lot with a free account, including website analytics, competitor analysis and SEO opportunities.

Another great free source for user intent-based long-tail searches is Answer the Public, which helps you discover long-tail keywords based on user search behaviour.

When using these tools, focus on phrases with lower search volumes and competition, as these often represent the most valuable long-tail keywords. Remember to export and organise your findings, creating a comprehensive list of potential long-tail keywords to target in your content strategy.

Analysing Search Intent and User Behaviour

Analysing search intent and user behaviour is crucial in identifying effective long-tail keywords. Search intent is the purpose behind what someone searches for. They might be looking to learn something, make a purchase, or find a specific website. By understanding the intent behind searches related to your industry, you can tailor your long-tail keyword strategy to match user needs.

Study your target audience’s online behaviour, including their language in forums, social media, and product reviews. This exercise can reveal natural long-tail phrases they will likely use in searches, allowing for better audience targeting with keywords. Additionally, examine your website’s analytics and note which posts and pages bring the most traffic to your site.

You can often expand these into valuable long-tail variations. Pay attention to metrics like bounce rate and time on the page to gauge how well your content meets user intent, and adjust your long-tail keyword strategy accordingly.

Leveraging Google Suggest and “People Also Ask” Sections

Leveraging Google Suggest and “People Also Ask” sections for long-tail keyword ideas. As you type a query into Google’s search bar, the autocomplete suggestions often contain excellent long-tail keyword opportunities. These suggestions are real searches people make, giving insight into how your audience phrases their queries.

Try entering your main keywords followed by each letter of the alphabet to uncover a wide range of long-tail variations. Similarly, the “People Also Ask” boxes in search results offer a wealth of question-based long-tail keywords. These questions represent topics users actively seek information about, making them prime candidates for content creation.

By adding these questions and their answers to your content, you can target precise long-tail searches and potentially earn featured snippets in search results. I often add these as FAQs to my blog posts.

Implementing Long-Tail Keywords in Your Content

On-Page Optimisation Strategies

On-page optimisation is crucial for effectively implementing long-tail keywords in your content. Start by adding your chosen long-tail keyword to your page title, ensuring it appears naturally and is close to the beginning. That helps the search engines understand your content’s focus quickly.

My blog posts have ranked without the long-tail keyword at the beginning, but I always try to use it as the first aspect these days.

Add the long-tail keyword in your meta description, too. Make it compelling to encourage clicks from the search results page. That said, you may notice that Google often doesn’t use meta descriptions but pulls a paragraph from the post. Don’t let that make you lazy. These meta-descriptions count.

Within your content, use the long-tail keyword in the first paragraph, preferably in the opening sentence, to immediately signal relevance to both readers and search engines.

Use header tags (H1, H2, H3) to structure your content. Add long-tailed keyword synonyms where appropriate (ChatGPT is brilliant for generating titles with keyword synonyms). That improves readability. In addition, it helps search engine bots understand your content hierarchy.

Don’t forget to optimise your URL structure (slug), including the long-tail keyword if possible, while keeping it concise and user-friendly. In addition, add alt text for images to describe them accurately. Use long-tail keyword synonyms when relevant to the image content.

Creating Targeted Content Around Long-Tail Phrases

Creating targeted content around long-tail phrases involves developing comprehensive, in-depth articles or pages that thoroughly address the specific query represented by the long-tail keyword.

Start by researching the topic extensively to ensure you can provide valuable, authoritative information. Consider the search intent behind the long-tail keyword and structure your content to meet that intent, whether it’s informational, transactional, or navigational. Develop a detailed outline that covers all aspects of the topic, using related long-tail keywords as subheadings to create a logical flow.

When writing, focus on providing helpful, actionable information that directly answers the user’s query. Include relevant examples, case studies, or data that supports your points if you want to add credibility to your content. Consider creating supplementary content such as infographics, videos, or downloadable resources that complement your main text and provide additional value to users searching for that specific long-tail phrase.

Balancing Keyword Usage And Natural Language

Balancing keyword usage and natural language is essential for writing content that appeals to search engines and human readers.

Read: 7 Types of Blog Content That Google Loves

While it’s essential to include long-tail keywords, avoid going wild with numbers to the point of keyword stuffing. Too many make it “sticky” to read and may affect SEO. Instead, intersperse long-tail keywords naturally within your content’s sentence structure.

Use semantic SEO techniques by integrating terms and phrases conceptually related to your main long-tail keyword. That helps create a comprehensive piece of content that covers the topic thoroughly. When writing, prioritise clarity and user experience over keyword density. If you use the Yoast plugin, that counts as the readability assessment.

Use transitions and connective phrases to ensure your content reads smoothly, even when incorporating long-tail keywords. Remember that modern search engines use advanced natural language processing, so focus on creating high-quality, informative content that genuinely addresses the user’s query rather than simply repeating keywords. By striking this balance, you’ll create content that ranks well in SERPs and provides value to your readers.

Measuring Long-Tail Keyword Performance

If you don’t analyse your keyword performance, how do you know what content to write that performs? It took me a bloody long time to work this out. I used to write blogs for the sake of it. Doh! Now, every post I write has a purpose. If it doesn’t, I don’t write it.

Key Metrics To Track (Rankings, Traffic, Conversions)

Tracking key metrics is essential. How else can you monitor the effectiveness of your long-tail keyword strategy. Start by monitoring your rankings for targeted long-tail keywords. While ranking first is ideal, appearing on the first page of search results can still drive significant traffic. Use rank-tracking tools like Google Console to observe how your positions change over time for each long-tail keyword.

I can’t make head nor tail of Google Analytics since they switched to G4. It was so simple to understand, but now it’s gobbledegook. I use Google Console and Ubersuggest.

Next, analyse organic traffic from these keywords. Look at metrics such as the number of visitors, page views, and time on the page to gauge user engagement. Pay special attention to the bounce rate; a low bounce rate indicates that your content meets the searcher’s intent.

By focusing on these key metrics – rankings, traffic, and conversions – you’ll understand how your long-tail keyword strategy performs and where you can optimise opportunities.

Tools For Monitoring Long-Tail Keyword Success

There are multiple tools to help you monitor the success of your long-tail keyword strategy. Google Search Console is an easy-to-use online tool that provides insights into your website’s overall search performance.

It shows which queries drive traffic to your site, including long-tail phrases you might not have explicitly targeted. Use its performance report to see your long-tail keywords’ impressions, clicks, and average position.

Google Analytics complements this by offering detailed data on user behaviour once they reach your site from these searches. Consider paid tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz Pro for more advanced tracking for long-tail keyword research and more.

These platforms offer comprehensive keyword-tracking features, allowing you to monitor rankings across multiple search engines and locations. They also provide competitive analysis tools to see how your long-tail keyword performance compares to your competitors.

If you can’t be arsed to do all the work finding long-tail keywords, consider using SurferSEO. I’ve used this software for SEO for client work. It creates an intensive list of keywords and synonyms, suggests article length, how many images and a lot more. Yes, it’s a monthly expense but, if you want o save time and get your content ranked, SurferSEO is a fantastic SEO tool.

Adjusting Your Strategy Based On Data Insights

The true power of measuring long-tail keyword performance lies in using the data to refine and improve your strategy. Monitor performance metrics to identify trends and patterns. If specific long-tail keywords perform exceptionally well, consider creating more content around related topics or expanding on the existing content to capture even more search traffic.

For example, one of my recent posts gets four times more clicks than the other top long-tailed keywords, so I’m digging down into that area of focus.

Conversely, for underperforming keywords, analyse potential reasons for poor performance. That might involve improving on-page SEO elements, enhancing content quality, or reassessing the search intent behind those keywords.

Use conversion data to prioritise your efforts, focusing on long-tail keywords that not only drive traffic but also lead to meaningful actions on your site.

If you notice that some long-tail keywords drive traffic but not conversions, review the content to check it aligns with user intent and includes clear calls to action. Play around with different content formats or page layouts to improve performance.

Remember that search trends and algorithms are constantly evolving, so regular analysis and adjustment of your long-tail keyword research strategy is crucial. Don’t be afraid to pivot your approach based on new data insights. By continually refining your long-tail keyword research strategy, you can maximise its effectiveness and drive sustainable growth in your organic search performance.

Conclusion

Correctly researched long-tail keywords can significantly enhance your SEO efforts and drive more qualified site traffic. If you adopt the long-tail keyword research strategies outlined in this guide, you’ll be well-equipped to find and use long-tail keywords effectively. Start incorporating these valuable phrases into your content strategy today and watch your organic search performance soar!

Simple Writing Hacks To Make Your Writing Irresistible

February 13, 2025

Simple writing hacks? Does your writing ever feel like that limp, damp lettuce you’ve kept in the fridge too long? Yeah, me too. When you start feeling the yawn in every sentence, you know it’s time to parachute off Grammarly and inject rocket fuel into your words.

Do you feel me?

The thing is, when you regularly write for clients, it’s not always possible to add spice to your content with your undoubtedly colourful and energetic personality. To step away from the mushroom grey blah, we must find a way to add sparkle and zest so your words burst into readers’ minds like the tastebud tap of a freshly squeezed orange.

I sometimes read the work of other writers and feel the unpleasant prickle of comparison. Well, no more. I’m grabbing the word defibrillator, ready for the electric charge to zap the heart of my writing. I followed Nicolas Cole for a while on YouTube and read his book.

How about you? Ready for the 5 simple writing hacks?

5 Ways To Make Your Writing Magnificent & Magnetic

The best writers make it look easy, but they have a secret. They have the ancient scroll with the faded, but not jaded, recipe that shapes their every word. Every sentence. Every paragraph. So, sneaky old me subscribed to some of these godlike writing creatures, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned.

Help Your Readers Feel Every Word

We writers all get into the habit of stereotyping our words. It takes less effort (lazy), and we get away with it. Still, let’s explore what I mean. Read the following and close your eyes for a few seconds afterwards:

  • personal-development
  • Word saboteur
  • A better way
  • Drunk as a skunk
  • Neon pink smoothie

The brain recognises novelty – because it tries to protect resources by filtering out the “normal”. So, when you opened your eyes, you probably remembered:

  • Word saboteur
  • Drunk as a skunk
  • Neon pink smoothie

These three stuck in your mind because they paint a picture. Think of the purple smoothie. Is your mouth watering? Crazy right? I’m writing this, and my mouth is watering 😊. They are sensory words, so we experience them like cool homemade lemonade on a sweltering hot day.

Sensory language evokes the senses:

  • Touch: Grab these free tools …
  • Taste: You will love the sweet satisfaction of …
  • Sound: This offer screams bargain of the century

Everyone scrolls through written content. The brain looks for relevance and will hook onto anything that stands out. Give your readers something that they can feel, see or hear. They will stay on your page longer and probably subscribe because your words suddenly became like a sip of sugar water to an exhausted bee.

Words should stick, not slip away. Give readers something they can see, hear, and feel. And if you adopt these simple writing hacks, they’ll pay more attention to your ideas.

Cast A Hook & Don’t Let Go

We’re all guilty of the mundane. It’s like how we always fall back on our favourite meal, Netflix series or a chocolate fest when we feel a bit low.

Here’s what I mean:

  • Your blog needs email marketing.
  • Eating spinach is good for you.
  • Your loved one appreciates kind words.
  • A good headline is a powerful way to get readers.

YAWN YAWN YAWN

Let’s try and va-va-voom it up a bit:

  • The top secret tip to increase blog subscribers by 1000%.
  • Eat this food to get a 65% increase in energy, like the Duracell bunny.
  • Say these 3 words if you want love in the afternoon
  • How to hook readers like there’s a 75% sale on Amazon

Yeah, OK. I’m still practising, but it’s a definite improvement from the blah. Hey. These simple writing hacks are pretty cool so far, don’t you think?

The top writers call these headlines a loop. So, you open the loop with a tempter. Close it, open the next loop, and close.

Example:

  • How to hook your readers (loop 1)
  • Like there’s a 75% sale on Amazon (loop 2)

Why the Heck Should Anyone Trust You?

Much as we’d love to think we’re important, our readers aren’t only looking for what they can gain from your content. They also need to know if they can trust you. After all, you could be some lazy numpty who copied and pasted ChatGPT-generated content.

We all know that ChatGPT saves time when writing. Damn, I use it myself every day. It’s fast becoming one of the simple writing hacks that writers use. You know, it’s like having my best brainstorming buddy ping me snippets of deliciously helpful stuff all day¾when I ask!

It’s no good telling your readers you know it all. You must show them. It’s like pulling out your holiday photos to prove you went to Jamaica, not a trip around a Jamaican-themed mini golf course 😊.

Don’t get pompous about it. When you know, you know. So, share your lived experience (hate that saying?) from a humble perspective that you were in your reader’s shoes not long ago.

3 Ways to Help Build Trust With Your Readers

  1. New to writing: Share what you’re learning from an expert or a course you’re taking. Quote research sources where possible and share statistics.
  2. Share your results: Share screenshots that your readers can relate to. It’s not about bragging. It’s about showing what’s possible. For example, you might say, “These 5 AI tools helped me earn $1000/month within 3 months.”
  3. Share testimonials: Social proof helps build trust, so gather and filter case studies and testimonials into your writing.

It’s no secret that the “show, don’t tell” concept works for writers. These simple writing hacks are the foundation for great words.

Use Words That Create Scrumptious Images

One way of quickly enabling your readers to visualise your words is to use metaphors. They work like warm honey slipping down a hot spoon.

See what I did there? 😊

It’s simple writing hacks 101. 😊

Don’t go mad with metaphors (hey, that would be a great book title). Sprinkle them occasionally into your content. Be creative. Avoid using time-weary metaphors that we see a gazillion times on inspirational Instagram feeds.

Maybe brainstorm with a friend over a coffee. Grab your notebook and flesh out some fun metaphors. Or, tell the left side of your brain to do one and let the little used right side have a bit of fun.

I’m gonna be brave and have a go. Here goes. Eek!

  • Spring is like a brave snowdrop daring to peek above the ground
  • Love is like a frisky horse jumping a tall fence, not knowing what’s on the other side and being OK about that.
  • Being afraid is like your wellies getting stuck in the mud, and you think you can’t get out.
  • My friend’s words burned like a shot of hot brandy.
  • It felt as good as a hot rum toddy on a freezing day.

What do you think? I felt a bit nervous about being judged, but that’s OK. I’m new to this, too. It’s about training our brain to think differently. You know, access the creative side that rarely gets out for a bit of fun.

Remember that these metaphors cause your readers to stop, just for a moment and absorb the sensory feel of your words.

The Secret Writing Codes To Make Writing Addictive

It’s the last one on the list of simple writing hacks. Yay!

I’m a terrible fidget (ADHD) and often use sensory or shape-sorting toys to help keep me from fidgeting with my hands. When a shape clicks into place, I feel content, and that’s how readers should feel when they read our words.

Words should be smooth, effortless and enjoyable. Develop a flow, and your readers will love your work.

Here are three I picked up from top writers:

  • The Parallel Effect: It’s about flow, so “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” (Neil Armstrong) stands out for its simple flow. Another is Winston Churchill’s “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”
  • The Echo Start: This technique is about repeating a phrase or word at the beginning of a sentence. For instance, Winston Churchill says, “We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills.” The sentences have a sort of stomping feeling. Rhythmic, somewhat hypnotic and addictive.
  • The Letter Hook: This technique uses repeating sounds. Here are some examples:

February 11, 2025

If you want to boost your productivity and creativity without breaking the bank, these 9 free AI tools are a game-changer.

From content creation to video production and social media management, these powerful tools offer incredible capabilities, often with no upfront costs. Though the free plans are mostly limited, some (like Metricool) are surprisingly generous.

Whether you’re a small business owner, content creator, or marketer, there’s an AI tool out there that can make your work easier and more efficient. In this article, we’ll explore 9 of the best free AI tools so you can start getting more productive (for free) today to take your projects to the next level.

ChatGPT: AI Writing & Assistance

ChatGPT AI tool

  • What it does: Generates text, answers questions, assists with writing, and provides brainstorming ideas.
  • Best for: Writers, bloggers, marketers, students, and business owners.
  • Free Plan: Access to GPT-3.5 with a word limit per session.

ChatGPT is one of the best free AI tools. It’s an advanced AI-powered chatbot developed by OpenAI that helps users with a wide range of tasks, from content creation and brainstorming to coding and research.

ChatGPT uses natural language processing (NLP), generating (almost) human-like responses. That makes it a handy tool for writers like me, students, entrepreneurs, and professionals. I use the free version of ChatGPT every day for various tasks, including assistance with my writing tasks.

One of ChatGPTs key strengths is that it can generate high-quality text based on your prompts. ChatGPT can quickly provide well-structured and engaging content if you need help drafting blog posts, social media captions, marketing copy, or business emails. It can also assist with brainstorming ideas, summarising information, and answering questions on various topics.

The free version of ChatGPTgrants access to GPT-3.5, which is powerful enough for general use, though it comes with some limitations, such as response length and speed. Paid users can access GPT-4, which offers more advanced reasoning and nuanced responses.

Despite these restrictions, the free plan still provides immense value for users looking to boost productivity and creativity. I know I’m not utilising as much as what ChatGPT can offer, but the free version saves me hours each week.

Pictory AI enables you to create high-quality videos without prior video editing experience, whether you’re a business owner, content creator, or marketer. Pictory has a good 4.1* rating on Trustpilot

If you’re dabbling in creating video content, you undoubtedly understand the pain of creating and editing content. I produced a 25-minute video recently (not on Pictory), which took me almost two days to create, edit, add and edit captions.

All you do is upload a script, blog post, or article, and the AI will automatically generate a video with relevant footage, subtitles, and voiceovers.

One of Pictory’s standout features is its AI-driven video summarisation, which can convert long-form content into bite-sized, shareable videos for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn. That’s a mahoosive time saver!

Additionally, its auto-captioning feature ensures that all videos include subtitles, making them more accessible and engaging for audiences who prefer watching without sound.

Read: Is Pictory.ai Worth it for Text-to-Video Creation?

Pictory offers a free plan with limited video creation per month, allowing users to test its capabilities before upgrading to a paid plan. While the free version has some restrictions, it still provides enough functionality for small-scale video projects or occasional content needs. It is one of the least expensive and reputable text-to-video platforms.

Note: Please avoid Pollo.ai text-to-video software. It might be cheap, but it has a terrible reputation with awful Trustpilot reviews.

I’m only on the starter plan and have cloned my voice, which I’m using on subliminal meditation tracks on my YouTube channel. I used Audacity (free audio editing) to record my voice and add some effects.

Recommended Pinterest Tools: Pin Generator & Pin Inspector

If you’re serious about Pinterest marketing, you’ve probably come across Pin Generator and Pin Inspector—two popular tools designed to help you grow on Pinterest. Still, which one is right for you? It depends on whether you want to grow fast, save time or both. The following is a quick breakdown to help you decide.

Pin Generator Review

Pin Generator is an AI-powered Pinterest automation tool that helps you create, schedule, and post pins automatically—saving you tons of time. It takes me around an hour to create pins on Canva, another hour to write descriptions and another hour to schedule the lot. It gets tiresome after a few months of that weekly regime.

✅ Pros

  • Auto-generates pins from your website or blog (no manual design needed!)
  • Bulk scheduling to keep your Pinterest active 24/7
  • AI-powered designs that match Pinterest’s best practices
  • Keyword optimisation to boost SEO and reach more users
  • Time-saving—great for bloggers, businesses, and content creators

❌ Cons

  • Limited design customisation. It’s not as flexible as Canva, where you have design creativity. Still, the design is less important if your messaging and CTA are spot on. Only you can decide whether you can let go of the creative aspect of Canva.

Is There A Free Plan?

No, but they offer a free trial to test how it works before committing. You can then pay a monthly subscription or get a generous discount when choosing an annual plan. Pin Generator also offers a time-activated lifetime plan.

Who Should Use Pin Generator?

It is ideal for bloggers, business owners, and Pinterest marketers who want to create more pins and save time by automating pin creation and scheduling.

Choose Pin Generator if you want a hands-off, automated Pinterest strategy with AI-generated pins and scheduling.

Pin Inspector Review

Pin Inspector is a Pinterest keyword and analytics tool that helps you find high-performing keywords, trending pins, and competitor insights.

✅ Pros

  • Find viral Pinterest keywords to help your pins rank higher
  • Analyse competitor pins to see what’s working in your niche
  • Discovers trending topics so you can create content people are searching for
  • Great for SEO—helps optimise descriptions for better visibility

❌ Cons

  • Erm! Can’t think of any. It’s an affordable tool for improving Pinterest results

Is There A Free Plan?

No, but Pin Generator offer a surprisingly reasonable one-time payment (no monthly subscription!), which is great for long-term use. There’s often a $20 discount on the website homepage, too.

Who Should Use It?

Perfect for Pinterest SEO experts, bloggers, and marketers who want to boost visibility with the right keywords and trends.

Pin Inspector is excellent for researching trending Pinterest keywords, platform trends, and competitor strategies to improve Pinterest SEO.

Conclusion

Pinterest remains one of the best platforms for long-term, evergreen content discovery and engagement. These top 10 profitable Pinterest niches represent the most popular and profitable spaces, offering businesses and content creators unlimited opportunities to connect with their target audience.

Use the Pinterest Trends tool to see what’s gaining traction and tailor your content accordingly. And don’t forget about keywords! Pinterest is a search engine, so optimising your boards and pins with the right keywords ensures that your content gets found by the right audience.

Increase Blog Traffic: Proven Strategies to Get More Views

January 20, 2025

Have you ever wondered how to increase blog traffic to your site? Here’s the thing: traffic is the lifeblood of your offers. There’s no point in having a perfectly monetised blog if nobody visits.

Key Takeaways

  • Write high-quality content that attracts readers & fulfils Google’s SEO guidelines.
  • Don’t rely on one traffic source
  • Learn SEO (search engine optimisation)
  • Internal and external linking can enhance SEO to increase blog traffic
  • Leverage email marketing to increase blog traffic
  • Regular review of blog performance through analytics tools can lead to better strategy adaptation, improving sustained traffic growth over time.

Understanding the Foundations of Blog Traffic Growth

Knowing the basics is key to boosting your blog’s readership and attracting more visitors. In addition, writing helpful content that genuinely speaks to your audience is something Google prioritises and the reason that most of my content ranks on page one SERPs.

Don’t rely on one traffic source. For the last few years, Google has done annoying regular updates. Instead of a couple of times a year, there’s an update at least every few months. Why is that a problem? Mainly because many website owners report extreme traffic volatility after an update. In the November 2024 update, some bloggers reported an 80% drop in traffic.

These three platforms are powerful search engines. Pinterest can take time, but it is worth the effort. Check out my review of the Pinterest courses I took. YouTube can also become an income generator and drive traffic to your blog.

Other sources of traffic are:

  • Social Media: I quit selling my soul to social media platforms in November 2024 to focus entirely on search engine marketing. For me, social media marketing sucked the life out of my bones and gave poor results. Don’t let me put you off, but it’s not for me.
  • Email Marketing: Build up a decent subscriber list, and you can share links to new content, share offers, etc
  • Social Media Ads: I wouldn’t bother until you make a consistent income from your blog. At this point, it’s worth investing in paid ads.

To make your blog more visible, focus on creating engaging, high-quality content. Moreover, make sure your blog is easy to find on search engines and share on social media. These steps will help you attract more readers and grow your online presence.

How to Increase Blog Traffic Through Social Media

I’ve got to be honest; I loathe social media. I tried it for 9 months but couldn’t stand the superficiality and air-brushed photos. Still, some people love making social media content, which can work. Just don’t hold your breath.

I use search engine marketing to get traffic to my blog so it is possible to market your business without social media.

To boost your blog’s traffic, use social media wisely. Visual content is key, as it grabs more attention than text. That leads to more people engaging with your blog, helping it grow.

To save time, buy done-for-you social media templates, such as my 1500 Aesthetic Faceless reels (ridiculously cheap and gorgeous!) or 200 Business Social Media Design Instagram Bundle.

Above all, don’t create faceless content from scratch if you actually want to have a life.

The 2023 Sprout Social Index shows that 45% of people follow brands for fun content. Primarily, make your posts enjoyable with real stories and customer feedback.

Here are some tips to boost your blog’s traffic on social media:

  • Choose the best social platforms for your target audience
  • Create content that resonates with your audience
  • Build a social media schedule to ensure consistent posting
  • Utilise analytics tools to track key metrics and optimise your social media strategies

By following these 7 tips, you can increase blog traffic. Keep your content fresh and engaging.

Moreover, with the right strategy, you can make start making money from your blog.

Leveraging Email Marketing to Boost Blog Visitors

I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t yet started an email marketing campaign for Wolfheart, even though I know it’s the absolute dog’s wotsits for growing your business.

Firstly, if you want to increase blog traffic, email marketing is key. It helps you build a valuable email list and share content and offers.

Secondly, segmenting your subscriber list and tailoring your content helps make the most of email marketing. Segmented emails can see a 760% revenue boost.

Here are some email marketing perks:

  • Newsletters sent regularly can increase blog traffic by 50%

  • Personalised emails can lead to six times more sales than generic ones

Systeme is entirely free for one automated email campaign, plus you can build up to three sales pages, meaning you can create a capture page to get subscribers.

Email Marketing Strategy Benefits
Segmented email campaigns 760% increase in revenue
Personalized email content Six times higher transaction rates
Regular newsletters 50% boost in blog traffic

Building Quality Backlinks for Enhanced Blog Readership

Many SEO experts suggest you need backlinks to attract more visitors. I have created a ton of traffic without focusing on backlinks because each blog post is optimised for SEO, which seems to keep Google happy.

Still, building quality backlinks is a key strategy. High-quality content that others link to can increase blog traffic, boost domain authority and attract more readers.

Guest posting, networking with influencers, and creating link-worthy content are good ways to get backlinks. For instance, “Why” and “What” posts, infographics, and videos attract links. In addition, longer content tends to rank better on Google than short articles.

By using these tactics, you can increase blog traffic and visibility. Focus on making high-quality content that others want to link to. Use different content formats to attract backlinks. You can grow your blog’s readership and meet your goals with hard work and a savvy strategy.

Optimising Your Blog’s Technical Performance

To get more people to visit your blog, it must run smoothly. That means making it load fast, work well on mobiles, and be easy for search engines to find. These steps will help increase blog traffic and get repeat visitors.

Making your blog fast and mobile-friendly is key. Google prioritises mobile content, so optimising it for mobile use is crucial. Slow sites frustrate people, and most web users are on mobiles. You can check what devices people use by checking Google Analytics.

Here are some ways to make your blog better:

  • Compress blog images to reduce file size and improve loading speed. I use JPG as it’s a considerably smaller file size than PNG
  • Use a CDN to improve site speed (content delivery network)
  • Secure your blog with an SSL certificate, as this is now a confirmed ranking signal

Doing these things can increase blog traffic because of the focus on user experience. Remember, keeping your blog in top shape is an ongoing job. Monitor how it’s doing and tweak things to keep improving.

Technical Optimisation Benefits
Improving loading speed Reduced bounce rates, improved user experience
Ensuring mobile responsiveness Increased traffic from mobile devices, improved search engine rankings
Implementing search engine optimisation Improved search engine rankings, increased traffic to your blog

Conclusion: Measuring and Maintaining Your Blog’s Traffic Growth

To sum up, it’s a continuous effort to increase blog traffic. It needs consistent work and thoughtful planning. You learn a lot by looking at page views, time on page, bounce rate, and conversion rate.

It’s essential to keep an eye on how your blog is doing. Primarily, use web analytics tools to assess performance and see where you can improve. A good blog not only gets lots of visitors but keeps them returning and engaged.

You can keep attracting more traffic with the right approach, including SEO, great content, search engine marketing and smart social media. Above all, always aim to give your readers value. Certainly, that way, your blog’s popularity will keep growing.

Profitable YouTube Niches: Best Income-Earners for 2025

January 10, 2025

Profitable YouTube niches can be life-changing if you get it right. When I launched my first YouTube channel, I’m not sure what I expected, but it sure as hell wasn’t getting 10 views after taking 3-5 hours to create videos!

I didn’t realise that choosing the right niche is one of the most critical decisions you’ll make before you hit the record button.

After I launched my Soulful Entrepreneur channel, I quickly knew I had it all wrong. Instead of curating my blog content into videos, I should have been focusing on a different route to building a YouTube channel that stood a chance of getting monetised within the first year.

Since then, I have launched another channel that is laser-focused on a specific niche.

So, look, don’t make the mistakes I made. From the get go, choose a profitable YouTube niche and start making money.

How Do You Find Profitable YouTube Niches?

Identifying the best YouTube niches can be tricky. That’s because a YouTuber’s earnings depend on various factors, including:

  • RPM (Revenue Mille)
  • Video length
  • Content quality
  • Monetisation strategies
  • Geographical location
  • Audience engagement

One helpful metric when researching profitable YouTube niches is to consider the RPM, which measures how much advertisers pay YouTube for every 1,000 ad views via Google AdSense.

  • CPM is what you earn per 1,000 video views after YouTube takes its cut. Since videos can feature multiple ads, the CPM often differs significantly from the RPM.
  • RPM offers insight into how valuable advertisers consider a niche’s audience. The higher the RPM, the more interest advertisers have, making monetisation easier.

However, making money on YouTube isn’t limited to ad revenue. To learn more from someone who created millions from YouTube outside of monetisation is Sunny Lenarduzzi. I’ve learned a lot from her and you will, too.

Watching Sunny’s content made me think about what income-earning potential each niche had, such as:

  • Selling courses
  • Affiliate offers
  • Memberships
  • Brand deals
  • Coaching

Note: This article is VERY in-depth, so grab yourself a cuppa and get ready to learn everything you need to know about starting a profitable YouTube channel, including the best AI tools to help you create video content.

I also share examples of successful YouTube channels for each niche.

With that in mind, here are 17 of the most profitable YouTube niches.

Making Money Online: RPM $13.52

profitable youtube niches

Making money online is one of the most profitable YouTube niches. Millions of people flock to YouTube daily, searching for ways to create extra income streams or gain financial freedom.

On average, this niche boasts a top-tier RPM of $13.52, making it a lucrative space for creators.

But it doesn’t stop there—some sub-niches take profitability to the next level. For example, videos focused on affiliate marketing can see RPMs soar as high as $22.00

Example: Ali Abdaal’s video on instant side hustles racked up 1 million views in under four months. He is an ex doctor who now makes considerably more than when he worked for the NHS!

Digital Marketing: RPM $12:52

Digital marketing has an impressive average RPM of $12.52 for channels focused on topics like social media marketing.

And it’s no surprise because digital marketers are masters at promoting their skills. They know how to leverage tools like YouTube SEO to their advantage. Hint: Many of them use VidIQ. Their audience primarily consists of budding entrepreneurs and small business owners, a valuable demographic for advertisers and sponsors.

Additionally, creators in this niche can easily diversify their revenue streams, branching out into blogs, online courses, coaching, digital products, memberships and academies. That’s where the money starts stacking up. Plus, it helps future proof your income and builds a loyal following off YouTube.

I started in the digital marketing space in mid-2024 and quickly got burnt out and disillusioned. So many people quit at this game because, quite frankly, it’s f*cking hard. If you have the balls and a ton of energy and determination, go for it.

Starting a YouTube channel in this niche is not for the fainthearted.

Example: Adam Erhart’s 17-minute video Digital Marketing for Beginners gained 1.1 million views. Like most successful entrepreneurs, he promotes his  courses. In 2024, he began diversifying into using AI for blogging.

Personal Finance and Investments: RPM up to $12.00

The personal finance and investments niche is another money-focused category but with a twist. Unlike content about hustling or marketing, personal finance channels zero in on how to manage and grow the money you already have.

These channels cover financial topics, such as breaking down stock market jargon to offering tips on making money, crypto, side hustles, budgeting, etc. With RPM rates reaching up to $12, this niche is one of the most lucrative on YouTube.

Example: Nischa is an ex-accountant sharing her lived experience. One of the best-performing videos is 9 Habits Keeping You Poor. It’s only 8 minutes long but has an astonishing 10 million views. Indeed, most of her content reaches multiple millions.

Educational Content: RPM $9.89

profitable youtube niches

The educational content niche is a broad category with significant earning potential. Some of YouTube’s most-subscribed channels focus on educational content for kids. Creators in this niche enjoy an average RPM of $9.89, making it a smart choice if you’re passionate about teaching.

However, it’s not just about the younger audience. Educational topics for adults are equally in demand, with channels covering everything from history and science to using Microsoft Office. Tutorials and how-to videos are among the platform’s most popular content types.

The best way to attack the educational niche is with unique video content, such as animated stories or lip syncing avatars. FlexClip offers this functionality, but be aware that lip syncing and creating video from images it’s still in it’s infancy.

Example: Nothing really compares to the TED channel with 26 million subscribers, but it shows the power of storytelling in education

Tech, Cars, and Gadgets RPM up to $7.31

tech-cars-gadgets youtube niche

Are you a tech head? If so, the tech niche, covering topics such as cars and gadgets, is another big earner on YouTube. The content attracts advertisers, from reviewing the latest iPhone to comparing Nikon vs. Fuji cameras or taking a Ferrari for a spin.

RPM rates within this niche vary widely. For example:

  • Photography channels: RPMs, averaging $7.31
  • Car-focused content: RPMs around $4.32
  • General tech channels: RPMs averaging $2.39

While this niche can be incredibly profitable, it comes with notable upfront costs. Creators often need to purchase or access the tech they review, which can add up quickly before seeing any significant earnings.

Example: The Future Tech channel has almost 700k subscribers and is a great example to give you ideas.

Home Improvement: RPM $7.00 – $36.00

Are you good with a hammer, or enjoy smashing down walls in your house? Great, go for it, then.

Did you know that simply painting your walls in neutral tones can increase your home’s value by 107%? That’s the kind of game-changing insight viewers love. Sharing tips like these could make your channel a go-to resource for anyone wanting to make innovative changes to their homes.

The home improvement niche works because everyone is trying to save money but still have a beautiful home. So, viewers flock to these channels for practical, affordable tips.

Example: The Home Improvement UK channel has over 1 million subscribers. They share punchy content that draws people in.

Lifestyle: RPM $3.47

The lifestyle niche is one of YouTube’s most popular and versatile categories. Audiences get drawn to creators sharing their travels, careers, home tours, and personal relationships.

On average, lifestyle YouTubers can expect RPM rates of $3.47, though there’s a wide variety and competition in this space. From vloggers documenting life in a country mansion to college students showcasing their campus experience, the diversity within the niche is immense.

What sets lifestyle content apart is its personal touch. By sharing personal experiences, creators build relatability and foster a sense of community. Viewers may not always aspire to replicate these lifestyles, but they often seek inspiration or entertainment in watching others’ lives unfold.

Although the RPM is relatively low, the potential for monetisation here is significant, especially since advertisers are keen to connect with engaged audiences.

Example: Sanne Vloet has almost 2 million subscribers and some of her videos have millions of views.

Read: Passive Income with AI for Moms (5 Super Smart Ideas)Moving on to the next profitable YouTube niche, we are almost halfway through.

Beauty & Makeup: RPM $3.00 – $10.00

beauty and skincare youtube niche

The beauty and makeup niche, closely tied to fashion, is one of YouTube’s most popular categories. Despite fierce competition, well-crafted beauty channels attract significant advertiser interest. The downside is this niche is less likely to work if you’re a bearded tradesman or a wrinkly, grey-haired seventy year old. As much as I hate to admit it, the airbrushed twenty year olds dominate this space.

On average, beauty YouTubers earn RPM rates of just over $3, mainly because this content naturally revolves around products. These videos seamlessly integrate products advertisers are eager to promote, from skincare and cosmetics to haircare tutorials and makeup reviews.

A particularly lucrative subcategory within this niche is weight loss content, where RPM rates can climb as high as $10.

Example: Doctor Mike has 13.5 million subscribers. His 10-minute video Doctor Fact Checks Popular Weight Loss Tips racked up over 4 million views. Rhianna’s 10 minute guide to going out makeup has 16 million views

Read: 7 Profitable Side Hustles for Beginners You Can Start Today

Cooking & Recipes: RPM $2.50

The cooking niche experienced a massive surge in popularity in the last few years, particularly during the pandemic. As more people stayed home, they turned to YouTube for recipe ideas, cooking tutorials, and inspiration to elevate their culinary skills, or simply to admire the artistry of others in the kitchen.

Whether it’s quick weeknight meals, gourmet dishes, or baking masterpieces, cooking channels continue to draw in audiences hungry for inspiration and guidance.

Although the RPM is low at $2.50, it’s a popular niche with affiliate offers and brand deal opportunities. Weight loss content is also relevant in this niche, as some channels promote recipes and tips for losing weight.

The downside with this niche is the competition. Many people are jumping on this bandwagon because they think it’s the road to riches, but it’s bloody hard work. However, if you have stickability and keep producing valuable content, you can make it work.

Most people give up after the first few months because their content gets lost in a sea of recipes.

Example: Ahmad Noori (Dr. Vegann) has 500k+ subscribers and only four recipe videos. His secret sauce is shorts and particular for vegans.

invideo

Fitness and Bodybuilding: RPM $1.60+

Like cooking channels, the fitness and bodybuilding niche has gained tremendous momentum. From beginner yoga sessions to niche topics like using weighted jump ropes for muscle growth, audiences flock to fitness content to achieve their health and body goals.

Advertisers have taken notice, with average RPM rates sitting at $1.60.

Moreover, some fitness topics command higher RPMs, depending on what they’re promoting—be it as simple as running shoes or as specialised as climbing gear. Many fitness niches also produce content on specific diets, broadening their monetisation potential.

Example: Goal Guys 13-minute video, I Tried to Lose 10lbs of Body Fat in 50 Days (Insane Result), has 1.2 million views.

Video Games: RPM $1.40

video games youtube niche

The video game niche is one of YouTube’s largest and most influential categories. From game reviews and advanced walkthroughs to live streams and gameplay with entertaining commentary, your aming content could get millions of views if you’re a passionate creator.

On average, gaming YouTubers earn RPM rates of $1.40. But considering the massive popularity of gaming, why isn’t the RPM higher? Two key factors:

  1. Intense competition – The sheer number of gaming channels makes it challenging to stand out.
  2. Younger audiences – While highly engaged, many viewers have limited disposable income, which reduces advertiser spending.

You gotta love gaming to work on a video channel. Gaming content resonates with kids and adults and remains a vibrant space for creators to showcase their passion and skills.

Example: SpawnPoint has over 1 million subscribers.

Pet & Animal Niche: RPM $2.00 – $8.00

If you love animals, this niche can be lucrative. Despite the RPM being lower at $2 to $8, creating watchable content can generate millions of views. I have two favourite animal channels that have had astounding success.

Examples:

  • Lou The Chichi has 1.2 million subscribers and  has a popular range of cute merchandise for pocket-sized dogs and are dominating the pet niche on YouTube.
  • Poppy the Prairie Dog may only have 665k subscribers. Still, considering prairie dogs aren’t the average pet, it is a hugely successful channel and proves you can succeed with any animal content.

Relationships: RPM $2.70 – $8.00

There’s a growing demand for guidance on love, dating, and communication. Studies show that many men struggle with romantic conversations, which is why these channels have gained so much traction in recent years.

What’s excellent about relationship content is that it’s evergreen. People always want to find ways to connect with others and build meaningful relationships.

While advice for women has been around for a while, many channels now focus on helping men navigate their relationships, offering tips on understanding partners, effective communication, and handling the ups and downs of dating.

With an average RPM range of $2.70 to $8, the relationship niche offers significant earning potential for relationship content creators.

Example: Jimmy on Narcissists is a popular channel solely about narcissism, with 1.12 million subscribers.

ASMR: RPM $3.50

The ASMR niche is a unique and immensely popular category on YouTube that’s worlds apart from traditional lifestyle or product-driven content. These channels focus on delivering sensory experiences—gentle sounds and visuals designed to evoke calming and pleasurable feelings or even trigger the tingling sensation known as the autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR).

For some, the simple act of watching someone slice soap neatly is profoundly relaxing. Many ASMR channels are simple noises (we all know the satisfaction of popping bubble wrap, right?).

Advertisers see value in this emotionally positive and engaging environment, rewarding ASMR creators with an average RPM of $3.50, a solid figure for such a specialised niche.

Example: Alix ASMR has 450k+ subscribers

Motivation & Spirituality: RPM $2.50 – $4.00

The motivation and spirituality niche encompasses a vast range of worldviews, but its common thread is a focus on self-care and personal growth. These channels appeal to individuals striving for inner peace, self-improvement, and the resilience to tackle life’s challenges.

Advertisers and sponsors see immense value in this audience, consisting of highly engaged viewers invested in their well-being. That makes the niche fairly lucrative, with RPM rates typically between $2.50 and $4.00.

Creators in this space provide their audience with guidance, inspiration, and the tools to find meaning and foster growth. It’s a niche that resonates deeply with those on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Example: Your Youniverse has over 1 millioon subscribers and gets a lot of engagement with her content.

BTW, I recently  launched my Simply Manifesting channel Whoo hooo! It’s slow going, even though I am following all the YouTube growth tips from top YouTubers.

Travel: RPM $2.00+

travel youtube niche

Grab your suitcase, phone or video camera, because the travel niche thrives on sharing experiences, adventures, and insights from global destinations, captivating viewers with the promise of exploration and discovery.

The niche rebounded after a pandemic-induced slowdown that impacted travel-hungry audiences, tourism businesses, and creators alike.

However, travel YouTubers are experiencing a resurgence in brand partnerships, collaborations with local tourism boards, and RPM rates climbing back to an average of $2 or more. It’s certaintly not amongst the most profitable YouTube niches in regards to RPM, but don’t let that stop you. The income-earning potential is unlimited.

For many creators, making money while travelling isn’t just a dream—it’s a reality. My niece travelled around Australia with her partner for a year and documented the entire journey on YouTube. They’re now traveling in Thailand and sharing content.

Example: MissTiffanyMa doesn’t have millions of subscribers but her shorts video “How to survive a 22 hour flight” had 1.7 million views. You don’t need millions of subscribers for the travel niche because the earning potential off YouTube is enormous.

Fashion: RPM $3.00+

The fashion niche may not be one of the most profitable YouTube niches at around $3.00 RPM. Still, the potential for brand deals and affiliate offers are enormous. Trends from Hollywood are trickling down into everyday wardrobes, giving fashion YouTubers endless opportunities to create fresh and engaging content.

“Try on” channels are popular, and you can often get clothing from brands that send you free garments to wear and share on your channel if you have many subscribers.

Bolt on a Pinterest marketing strategy too. I know one lady who regularly makes $800 daily commissions from pinning LKT fashion items.

Example: VivaciousHoney has almost 3 million subscribers.

Recommended Tools for Creating YouTube Video Content

You could spend a fortune on software that helps you create YouTube videos, but it’s best to start with a fruigal approach. After that you can start adding AI tools once you start making some money. The following are a few I currently use or have used:

VidIQ: The Only YouTube Growth & Optimisation Tool You Need

I got the chance to try VidIQ for a no-brainer offer price. I’d been using Tube Buddy but it wasn’t making any difference to results for my new channel. It’s low cost, simple to use and I recommend it to anyone that wants to grow their channel.

For one thing, it assesses your thumbnails and descriptions and gives them a score. Mine were, on average, around 60/100. Now, they are nearer 100 and I am gaining subscribers, views and watchtime.

VidIQ comes with a powerful Chrome extension that connects to your YouTube channel. That helps with:

  • Optimising titles
  • Suggesting SEO descriptions
  • Scoring your video optimisation
  • Suggesting high-performing tags
  • and more

Another fantastic service is the video review. You simply submit the URL of one of your videos and a VidIQ coach records a video review suggested what you did well and any improvements. That really helped me when I first started switching up my content from VidIQ training.

VidIQ tracks how your content is performing and helps you set goals. It also gives you daily suggestions for video content that will likely perform in your niche. It provides a service to research competitors and outliers and has a thumbnail creator, which I don’t use as I prefer making my own within VidIQ parameters.

The VidIQ Script Writer is phenomenal. It makes ChatGPT look like a dunce! It’s genuinely human-like and you can choose the tone.

After choosing an idea from the daily suggestions (optimised for your channel) you give the idea to the Script Writer, including how long you want the video and it does the job.

All of my scripts have been generated this way since I subscribed to VidIQ and the results speak for themselves (see below image). That alone, saves me hours of writing scripts or expecting ChatGPT to do a half decent job.

vidiq stats

Since implenting VidIqs training, my little channel is finally growing. I only started a few weeks ago.

With VidIQ, YouTube creators like you can make data-driven decisions, boost their video visibility, and gain valuable insights into what’s working on your channel, and what’s not. Whether you’re just starting or scaling up, VidIQ gives you a fantastic range of tools considering the price, and helps you grow your audience.

Eleven Labs: Text-to-Audio

When I started creating video content last year on TikTok, it took me multiple takes to produce audio. Recording video get nervous, so I make mistakes, say the wrong things, too many ums and ers and it drove me mad. I hated doing it.

I still sometimes use my own voice for meditation tracks, but 85% of my voiceovers are now with ElevenLabs.

This fantastic ai software seamlessly creates text-to-audio. You can create 10 minutes/month for free but I’d advise the (very, very  low cost) starter plan or pro plan. Find a voice you like – or clone your own – and save hours each week.

Uppbeat: Royalty-Free Music

Having the right background music for video content can make an enormous difference to audience responses. It stimulates a subconscious emotional response that keeps people watching.

I’ve been an Uppbeat member for many years. The choice of royalty-free music genres is unrivalled (as is the price). I can always find the perfect track for my videos.

If you’re grabbing music from free sites, trying to save a penny, the last thing you want is to get a music copyright claim slapped on your YouTube channel.

Uppbeat has every music genre imagineable and you can start for free (as long as you add the content creator’s link, which Uppbeat gives you).

I have a paid account and it’s very affordable. I pay £6.99/month and download dozens of music tracks every week for my YouTube channels. In the last two weeks,

Conclusion: The Most Profitable YouTube Niches

It took me over a year of procrastination before I finally started recording video content, and I messed that up at first. It’s only in the last few months, I’ve been researching YouTube niches outside of my experience and finding one or two that resonate and are fun for me to produce content.

The main reason for my hesitation was the prospect of how much work is involved. I just couldn’t face it. But, I got around that by researching and selecting AI tools that make my job easier and faster. Trading a bit of money to make my life easier is worth every dollar.

If you’re serious about building your YouTube channel, subscribing to AI tools that save time and improve results is a no-brainer.

These four tools cost me around £50/month and make a huge difference

  • VidIQ YouTube Growth
  • CapCut Video Editing
  • Uppbeat Royalty Free Music
  • ElevenLabs Text-to-Audio

One thing I know for sure is not to focus entirely on making money. Even though we’re talking about profitable YouTube niches, you must love your subject; otherwise, sustaining motivation is almost impossible.

If  you aren’t having fun creating YouTube video content, you will lose motivation. 100% guaranteed (says shes speaking from hard experience). VidIQ training suggests that passion for your subject helps you win on YouTube, above consistency and all the other stuff.

Creating video content is time-consuming and fiddly when you first start. Technical hitches can stall progress for hours and frustrate your plans. Start with the end in sight but 100% commit to the process and have fun.

Finally, remember not to put all your eggs in one basket. Don’t rely on ad revenue from your YouTube channel.

Consider starting an email marketing campaign (Which you can do for FREE with Systeme), sharing affiliate offers, memberships, courses and coaching. The most profitable YouTube niches nail this aspect of building their channels.

FAQs

What Is The Most Profitable Niche On YouTube?

There’s no single “most profitable” niche, but some of the highest-earning ones include personal finance, tech reviews, digital marketing, health & fitness, and online education.

Profitability often comes from high CPMs (cost per thousand views), affiliate opportunities, and brand deals. However, always consider the bigger picture. With some niches, you can make more money from affiliate marketing, selling digital products, coaching and memberships.

You can find some quirky, faceless YouTube channel ideas that have little competition.

So, keep your options open and research thoroughly before starting a YouTube channel.

How Do I Choose The Right Niche For My YouTube Channel?

Start by identifying topics you’re passionate or knowledgeable about. Then, validate the niche by checking demand (search volume, trending videos) and competition.

Ideally, your niche should balance your interest, audience demand, and monetisation potential.

Can Small Channels Still Make Money In Profitable Niches?

Absolutely! You don’t need millions of views to earn income. Smaller channels can monetise through affiliate marketing, sponsorships, and selling digital products or services—even before reaching the YouTube Partner Programme threshold.

Should I Pick A Niche Based On Passion Or Profitability?

Ideally, both. A niche you’re genuinely interested in will help you stay consistent long-term. But it also helps to pick a topic with good monetisation potential—think of it as choosing a profitable passion.

It can take time to get to 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours, and you WILL lose interest if you only choose a niche to make money and have no genuine interest in the content.

How Do I Know If My Niche Has A High CPM?

Niches like finance, real estate, tech, and education typically have higher CPMs. You can also check competitor videos and use tools like vidIQ or TubeBuddy to research CPM estimates and keyword data.

Can I Change My Niche Later If It’s Not Working?

Yes, but be cautious. Sudden shifts in content can confuse your audience and impact channel performance. If you plan to pivot, gradually guide your viewers through the transition with clear messaging.

Ideally, if you realise the niche you’ve chosen isn’t for you, start again. Open a new YouTube channel and start creating content you enjoy.

What’s the Best Video Editing Software for Beginners?

I recommend CapCut. I tried other software and found them frustating. CapCut is easy to use. The interface is perfect for beginners as it’s mostly drag and drop. It has some great effects, sounds and lots of other great things to play with to wow your video content.

How Do I Grow My YouTube Channel?

I know I sound like a cracked record, but VidIQ is the best YouTube growth software for small or established YouTubers. In a matter of weeks, I more than doubled my subscriber list and now feel like I actually know what I’m doing, where I’m going and how to grow my YouTube channel.
